My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

Thanks for your interest in a pet from A.R.F.! If you see a pet here, they are still available for adoption and you should apply through our adoption application on our website at  https://www.arf-il.org/adopt/application/

Rex is one of the cats participating in clear the shelter. His adoption fee is significantly reduced Part of ARF’s goal is to share with you the good and bad of the cats we have. It helps us best match you to the perfect cat. But, in full transparency, we now have a cat that we fear will never be adopted. Rex is a gray tabby cat who never properly learned social cues. He loves attention but lashes out without warning. He attacks feet and can draw blood even if he doesn’t mean to. He is not feral but truly just doesn’t understand how to ask for more attention. He needs someone who is willing to help guide him in the right direction with humans. It could take a long time to get him better with humans so he’s not the cat for someone who wants an easy going pet. But if you’re interested in giving Rex a chance or learning more about his story, please reach out today. Rex will call out to get attention because he does love people. He rubs up against his foster and weaves in and out of her legs looking up lovingly the whole time. He is extremely food motivated which can help with the learning curve. He lived happily with a woman for two years until he was put in a different location because she had to leave for some time. So we know he can be a good companion, he just needs someone to draw out his sweet side and the chaos in a foster home does not help him.

If you are interested in meeting Rex, you can fill out an online adoption application at https://www.arf-il.org/adopt/application/. Once your application has been approved, an A.R.F. volunteer will contact you to arrange a meeting with Rex.

Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.

Thank you for considering a rescue pet from A.R.F.-Animal Rescue Foundation! We are  based in Wheaton, IL and conduct adoption events in the DuPage County area. If you are interested in adopting one of our pets, please submit an adoption application at https://www.arf-il.org/adopt/application/

Adoption appointments are scheduled based on the order of applications received, so submit your application early! Submitting an application does not commit you to any animal but does get you a head start with the adoption approval process. Due to a high volume of applications, we are often unable to respond to questions or schedule meetings until your application has been approved. More information about our adoption process can be found on our website here: https://www.arf-il.org/adopt/

As an all-volunteer, foster home-based organization, A.R.F. Animal Rescue Foundation does not have a facility where applicants can visit our animals. Please visit https://www.arf-il.org/events/ for a list of our upcoming adoption events.

Thank you for choosing to adopt, not shop!
