Requires 4ft fenced yard and be only dog (at least initially) as he is dog selective.
Beau is a 5-year-old pitbull/hound dog mix. He is around 80 pounds . He previously lived in an apartment with his family (including a 2-year-old child and a smaller dog) but they wanted him to have a chance to be more active. He currently lives with his foster mom and another large female dog.
Beau is a very happy boy that loves to play ball and loves treats! He rides well in the car. He behaves well going to the vet or to get a bath. He knows simple commands (sit, stay, lay down, wait) and goes in his crate easily when asked. He is food motivated and trains easily. He is happy to sleep on the couch or in bed with you. He is very affectionate and loves to snug. He does well with children. He is very happy to sleep in bed with you or on the couch.
Beau can be an anxious boy and has overcorrected with other dogs. He has barrier reactivity (if someone/something is on the other side of a fence or window) but is happy to greet anyone he meets once they are inside the house. Beau is muzzle trained if needed for introductions.
Beau needs a person or family who can be understanding of his quirks. He currently lives with a dog that he gets along with perfectly, but we are limiting him to be an only dog upon adoption. He will need a fenced yard (preferably higher than 4 feet) so he can be active as he loves to play ball and run around and sniff.
He is the sweetest boy and has SO much love to give. He hopes to find his forever family soon.
Beau’s adoption fee is $275.00, which includes up-to-date vaccinations, heartworm testing and preventative, spay/neuter and microchip.
We are a 100% foster-based rescue and all of our dogs live in approved foster homes. We are dedicated to finding the best Forever Homes, and will perform home visits and conduct veterinarian and reference checks for each potential adopter.
