My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Age: 5 years old

Gender: Female

Breed: Spayed Terrier mix

Weight: 25 lbs

Personality: Peg is a very sweet and affection-seeking girl, as she just loves belly rubs and kisses.

Education: Peg is house-trained and crate-trained and is currently working on leash training. She is learning how to walk on the sidewalk, as she tends to be fearful of loud noises or sudden moves, but she will walk on the beach, around the lake, or anywhere where there aren’t cars, just fine. She is learning how to play fetch and with other doggies, and she is working on trusting humans. Once she warms up to you, though, she is the sweetest girl.

Favorite Activities: Peg loves snuggling and being loved! She loves going on walks but is still working on mastering her leash-training.

Looking for: Peg is a sweet and affectionate girl who deserves a loving, nurturing and patient home! Because she has an average energy level, she would do best in a mellow, not-too-active home. As far as other doggie siblings are concerned, Peg would be okay with others who are her size or smaller, just as long as they give her the time to warm up and get comfortable around them. It’s unknown as to how she would do around kitties, but kiddos are probably a no (unless they are much older) since she would probably get too overwhelmed with younger ones running around.

Adoption Fee: $ 350

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

We prioritize local San Diego applicants. We do not provide transport of dogs to other states, and don't allow the dogs to fly in the cargo of the plane.
Our adoption process from start to finish, involves 3 standard forms, and 2 situational.
All potential applicants must be capable of providing their adopted pet with routine and emergency veterinary care (yearly health checks, keeping vaccinations current, heartworm/flea preventatives, and immediate care in the event the animal is sick or injured). They are required to license their pet, and keep an identification tag on their pet at all times.
All applicants must agree to a home check, and provide us with a veterinary reference, or personal references if you're a first-time pet owner. Our home checks are not to invade the privacy of the applicants, we do this to ensure the pet is going into a safe home. We do not discriminate against non-homeowners, or those living in apartments, condos, or otherwise.
Our adoption fees vary from $150-1000.
Applicants must agree in writing that if for any reason they are unable to keep or care for their pet, the pet will be surrendered back to our rescue and not re-homed, turned over to a shelter, pound, rescue, new owner, sold, etc.

More about this rescue

Overview
The Animal Pad is a nonprofit, all-breed dog rescue devoted to saving the lives of dogs facing euthanasia at high kill animal shelters and off the streets of Mexico. We rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home locally.

We are dedicated to animal advocacy, and educating dog owners on the importance of spaying and neutering their pets. We are a foster based rescue, and rely heavily on the kindness and generosity of the amazing people who make donations toward the rescue and care of the dogs we save.

We are always looking for adopters, fosters, donations, volunteers, etc.. Please let us know if you would like to get involved by contacting us at one of the email addresses found below.
