Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Our dear sweet 16 month old female Bernese Mountain Dog, May, is ready for a forever home to call her own. Maya is very sweet and loving. She loves to snuggle. Maya gives you so much to LOVE!! She is so easy to love!! Because her beginnings were less than ideal, she is slow to warm up to humans. But boy once she does, she is yours forever! She is sassy, full of spunk and full of life. She is like any other young Berner, she is learning and needs a forever family to continue to work with her. She is up to date on vaccines, spayed and has a microchip.
She is potty trained!! She thrives on a routine and once she knows the routine she is very pleased with herself. She is very food motivated, this really helps with positive reinforcement training techniques. She has not found a toy that she does not love! She will destroy your socks. Oh but your shoes, she will love them so much she must rearrange them daily.
She would do much better in a home where someone is home more than not. No cats or any small animals please. No small children please. Like most young Berners, she is mouthy. Her family would need to continue to work with her on this. Teenagers should be just fine. If you have other dogs in the home, they should be 3 years old or older, very confident, patient and understanding of Maya the young pup. Her trainer thinks she would do better with male dogs but if it's the right female dog, then she should do just fine.
If you are looking for a beautiful young sweet Berner, Maya is for you. She is a work in progress like any other Berner her age. She has a few quirks but most of these things can be overcome with continued consistent training.
We do not transport our Berners. Adopters should plan to pick up Maya from her foster home in Johnstown, Ohio. Adoption fee is $450.00. If interested please complete our adoption application and submit to: info@bfwrescue.org.
