Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
Baxter is a 3-year-old neutered male who came to the shelter as a stray found in Somerset. He seems to love people of all shapes and sizes. Baxter would need to be the only pet in the home; however, this means more love for Baxter. He would also love a home with an active family that will take him on walks and play with him; a fenced-in yard would be a great bonus for him to run off some more of his energy as he is a high-energy, bouncy boy. He loves to play ball and tug of war. Baxter does well at being house-trained but may need a little refresher. He is a very intelligent dog, so refreshing shouldn't take much. He also knows how to sit and shake. He needs some training when walking on a leash but does well with a harness. If you think you may be the home for Baxter, he kindly asks that you stop and meet with him soon!

More about this shelter
We make every effort to find homes for every animal in our care. When our shelter is over-crowded, we rely on a network of "foster families" to take care of our pets. All the while, we have increased our efforts to "get the word out" about our pets (e.g. this website, pictures, newspaper publicity, etc.) Our efforts pay off.
The Staff and Board of Directors at the Humane Society love pets, and our actions bear out that simple fact. Our animal guests get the very best care while they are with us.
Please help! We need volunteers to help us exercise the dogs. We try to walk the dogs each day to provide them with the exercise and attention they so desperately need. You can volunteer as little or as much as you like. If you would be interested in helping us care for our animal guests, please call the shelter at 814-443-2121.
