My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi! My name is Pear (aka Charlie), and I am in Los Angeles waiting for my forever home! I was rescued from the dog meat trade in South Korea by the DoVE Project. My fate would have been to live in fear and distress, watching dogs being led to slaughter for human consumption. DoVE Project heard about me, and now I am looking for my forever family!

ID/NAME: C’DT23-11 / Pear
SEX/WEIGHT/AGE: Male / 62lbs / 1 year
BIRTH DATE: May 01, 2023
BREED: Jindo mix
VACCINATIONS/SPAY/NEUTER/HEALTH: All inoculations completed on
7/12/2023. Tested negative for distemper and parvo.

BEHAVIOR
Pear is a sweet and sensitive 1-year-old boy who was rescued from a dog meat farm along with his mama and littermates. With his foster family's guidance, he is making great strides to be a confident boy. His favorite activities include a good run a the dog park, cuddling with his foster family, and playing chase with his furry foster siblings. He would do amazing in a home with other dogs. He needs a family who can provide structure, patience, ad unconditional love.

SIBLINGS/FAMILY: Pear was rescued from an illegal dog farm with her Mother (Gil Dong) and siblings: Mango, Kiwi, Berry, Raisin, and Clementine.

ABOUT JINDOS
Jindos are known for their fierce loyalty, high intelligence, rarely barking, and playful nature. They make great indoor family dogs, as Jindos are clean, easily housetrained, and faithful to family members. They are also mid-level active and love being socialized at dog parks, hiking, and joining the family on trips.

ABOUT SHELTER STRESS
Dogs who have lived in shelters for a long period of time develop behaviors due to an environment that is loud, chaotic, and stressful, even in the best shelters in the US. Dogs in shelters have limited socialization exposure to people and urban environments. DoVE dogs also come from a traumatic background such as dog meat farms and slaughterhouses. While many of our dogs acclimate within a few months with consistency, structure, and patience, some of our more sensitive dogs can take longer to rehabilitate. It's important to note that these sensitive dogs are even more attuned to human emotions and behavior, making for a deeper connection human-dog connection. DoVE Project is committed to helping our adopters desensitize and socialize our dog meat trade survivors.

*********************************
DoVE Project operates a shelter in South Korea, where our dogs stay until they are matched with an adopter. In the US, our dogs stay in foster homes or in boarding, as we do not have a physical facility. These dogs are identified with "in LA" in their names.

Please note that we only adopt our pups in the Southern California area. Please check our website for more information regarding our adoption process, our mission, and our adoption application: https://www.dove-project.org/adoption-process

If you are interested in adopting, please complete an online application at: https://www.dove-project.org/adoption-application-form.

More about this rescue

DoVE Project (Dogs of Violence Exposed) is a 501(c)3 animal welfare, rights and protection organization. As our name is clearly stated, our aim is to end the Dog Meat Trade in S. Korea and other parts of the world where the dogs are slaughtered for human consumption. The condition in which these dogs are raised, bred and slaughtered is extremely brutal and inhumane. We rescue these dogs from dog farms, slaughterhouses, or dogs destined to enter into dog meat trade or be slaughtered to be eaten. Many female dogs that are rescued from the farms/slaughter houses are pregnant and oftentimes their puppies are brought to USA for adoption. Part of our campaign to end the DMT in Korea is rescue work in parallel in conjunction with our campaign to raise awareness and education within Korea.
