My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

This is a courtesy post! This cat is not currently under the care of The Cat Shack but can be adopted directly from her caretaker in the meantime. To adopt these cats, please fill out an application in the link below. If you have any questions, please email catshackposting@gmail.com

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Greta and Noelle are two cats rescued from the same home. Sadly, their owner passed away, and was not discovered for several weeks, leaving Greta and Noelle completely on their own during that time.

They have since been taken into foster, and although they're still recovering from losing their Dad in such a traumatic fashion, they are making leaps and bounds every day and their colors are really beginning to shine.

They are estimated to be 10-11 years old. Greta is up to date on her vaccines through May of 2024, but needs a dental cleaning. Noelle needs to see a vet for her annuals and dental (we're working on getting that sorted ASAP!) Both are a little on the chunky side, but are having their diets adjusted to get them gradually and safely down to a healthier weight. They have great litterbox manners!

Owing to their age and the vet care necessary for two senior cats, the adoption fee for them has been waived. They do not need to be adopted together, but we would like to see Noelle go to a household with another friendly cat.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

With each passing day Greta has come out of her shell more and more (and as of this writing she is VERY opinionated about how much she wants your attention.) She is incredibly sweet and loving, wants to be petted, scratched, kissed, hugged and held. She sits by her foster mom's office chair all day long, eager for attention to be doled out. She is a 'happy drooler' and likes to painlessly nibble on your arm like she's grooming you (we call it 'corn cobbing'!)

Greta would be ideal for a house for someone retired, or who works from home, and she is definitely someone who needs to be around her people -- loved and getting loved in return.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Noelle is still a little traumatized from losing her Dad, and will need time and patience to return to full bloom. She's really come around in only a few short weeks, however, and will readily follow Greta around and use her as a 'buffer' until she feels bold enough to ask for pets (purring loudly all the while.)

She adores sitting in the window and watching the birds, and will greet you with a hilariously raspy smoker's meow when she has something to say. She also LOVES being brushed, and will lay out flat and happy for a nice soft brushing.

She has as much love to give as her sister, she just needs someone who understand what she's been through and that her heart has to heal before it can fully open. Every day she learns to trust a little more, and you can see her opening up.

Adopting from The Cat Shack

The Cat Shack rescue is all volunteer and the adopted cats are delivered to your home. Because we deliver the cats to you, we must restrict the adoptions of our highly adoptable cats to a 1 hour drive from the Allentown PA area. In certain situations, 'special-needs' cats, ferals and older cats will be adopted to homes at a greater distance then a 1 hour drive from Allentown PA.

The first step in adoption is to...

Young KITTENS are always adopted in Pairs or to homes with other felines already in the home. Click here to read why kittens are happier with a buddy!

All cats are vaccinated, dewormed, tested and altered as part of the adoption contract. This basic care (and other vet work required to make our rescues healthy) is included in the $85 adoption donation!

Additional adoption info

We ask our adopters to fill out a brief application. We seek adopters that will provide a loving home for the life of the pet with proper vet care.

The Cat Shack adoption contract states that the adopter will keep the cat safe, provide vet care and will return the cat to the Cat Shack rescue if the owners find that they can no longer keep their pet.

The Cat Shack adoption fee is $75 and includes FeLV/FIV testing, vaccines, deworming, the spay or neuter plus any other medical issues needed. This often includes dentals and other expensive vet work.

More about this rescue

The Cat Shack is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization staffed by volunteers.

We keep all of our rescued cats until they get adopted and will treat all medical issues identified by our vets. All of our pets are fostered in the homes of volunteers and we utilize our adoption centers in the PetsMart in Whitehall PA, the Petvalu in East Greenville and and Petvalu in Quakertown to help us find homes for our rescued pets.

Our group also has a very active Trap/Neuter/Return (TNR) program where feral cats are altered and returned to their original location to live out their lives without reproducing.
