My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Darla (formerly known as Coffee Cake), a resilient soul rescued from the brink! Despite her age (about 7 yrs), this mature gal exudes spunk and vitality that'll brighten your days. Saved from the euthanasia list at Galveston County Animal Control, Darla's zest for life is palpable.

Don't let her age fool you—she's a bundle of energy, adoring treats and affection. Darla's incredibly friendly, reveling in pets and attention. Despite her toothy grin with missing front teeth, she's a champ at mealtime, relishing treats and meals with her remaining molars. Her skin issues are on the mend with medicated baths and treatment, promising a full, fluffy coat in no time.

This resilient girl, although having weathered life's storms, is eager for a fresh start. Darla's a social butterfly, enjoying the company of other dogs, cats, and humans alike!

Let's rewrite Darla's story—she's waiting for a loving forever home! If you're ready for a sweet yet spirited companion, Darla is your girl. Let's get her out of boarding and into a home where she'll shine!"

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

SHR will require an application and home visit for the adoption of any of our animals. The customary adoption fee is $150 for dogs $85 for cats.

Adoption application

Go meet their pets

Scout's Honor Rescue does not currently have its own facility to keep the animals in its adoption program. All animals in our program are fostered by individuals who keep the dog or cat at their residence until it is adopted. Consider opening your home to a dog or cat in need. You become the caregiver to a precious animal – their future is in your hands! It is incredibly rewarding to know that you have given that animal the two most precious gifts- Life and Love. For many of them, this is the first kind hand they have known.
