Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Franklin, our 5 year old 55 pound pitty mix, is distractingly handsome. We want to warn people of that right from the start. It's very hard to get things done with his beautiful face around. Franklin is more than just great looks though, and his forever family is going to be really lucky to get to know him.
Franklin was found as a stray on the streets of Portland and not much is known about his past. He had a patchy hair coat and infected skin from untreated fleas. We took him in to clean his teeth, treat his infections and perform his neuter surgery. He's now recovered and ready for adoption.
Sweet, easy going and affectionate, Franklin enjoys showering his family with love. He's an energetic boy but is happy to hang out on the couch or cushy dog bed accepting pets. Franklin is excellent with other animals. He is respectful of cats and is very good at playing with other dogs. He is also a self-entertainer with stuffies and chew toys (although the stuffy will never look the same afterwards). It appears that Franklin was not previously taught how to walk on a leash, so he will need a family who can patiently continue positive reinforcement with these skills. Good thing he's food motivated and eager to learn! As he continues to improve on the leash, it's become evident that he'll make a great hiking or walking buddy.
Although very social, crowds make Franklin nervous as do little kids (relatable). We think Franklin would prefer a home without small children and maybe one that doesn't throw huge parties. He is an A+ dog. As his person continues his training, we're sure he'll be an A+++ dog.
Franklin is microchipped, heartworm negative and current on his flea and heartworm preventatives.
If you've got the time to gaze admiringly at our handsome Franklin, apply to adopt! Who needs to get work done anyway. www.stumptownstrays.org
