My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi! My name is Mama. I've been at the shelter since November 2020. I was a pregnant, homeless stray before coming to Heart of the Foothills. I also had heart worms and underwent treatment.

Can you believe I've been here this long and very few people have asked to meet me? I know I'm far from perfect, but I'm not a bad dog. Thankfully, all my cute little puppies were adopted into wonderful homes. Although, I have to admit I'm a little sad that no one wants me. I know I'm not as cute as a puppy. My body carries evidence of the many litters I've had over the years. But I still deserve a chance and with the right person, I would make the best companion. I'm not getting any younger, and I would like to experience what a real home feels like.

My ideal home would be with adult humans only. Other dogs, cats, and small children are just too stressful for an old girl like me. I just want to cuddle on the couch with you and get belly rubs!

My buddy Dezyl and his mom are sponsoring my adoption fee. A home just like Dezyl's would be perfect! Maybe that home will be with you! A girl can dream, right? If you are interested in adopting this animal please fill out an application at heartofthefoothills.org/adopt. You can email us at adopt@heartofthefoothills.org

More about this rescue

We are a non-profit and no-kill shelter in Rutherford North Carolina. We pull animals from animal control and take in animals from the community. We make sure everyone is healthy, up to date on vaccinations, spayed or neutered, microchipped, dewormed, and put on something for fleas, ticks and heartworm prevention. We then place them up for adoption making sure they go into great homes.
