Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Name: Ranger
Date of Birth: March 2019
Rescue Date: September 2020
Rescue Organization: Sacramento SPCA
Bio:
Ranger is a unique and special canine companion looking for a loving forever home. He's a handsome pup with a story of resilience and a few specific preferences that make him truly one of a kind.
Ranger's journey began when he was rescued by the Sacramento SPCA in September 2020. This brave pup has a birthdate that marks his third year of life, and he's ready to find his forever family. He is current on vaccinations and microchipped for his safety.
One thing to know about Ranger is that he prefers the company of women. He's a loyal and affectionate companion to the ladies in his life. Additionally, Ranger is quite social with some other dogs, making him a possible playmate for your canine friends.
However, it's essential to understand that Ranger is not comfortable around children or grandchildren, actually children of any type! For this reason, he needs a home without youngsters. Please keep this in mind when considering him as a member of your family.
Ranger's previous adoption experience was unfortunate. He was returned when he felt cornered on a leash and was forced to be petted. It's a valuable lesson that serves as a reminder never to force a dog to be social. Respect his boundaries, and he'll thrive.
If you're an active person who enjoys on-leash hikes or trips to the lake, Ranger is the perfect adventure buddy for you. He thrives when exploring the outdoors, always on a leash to ensure his safety.
Ranger can be a bit wary of strangers, especially when he's on a leash or in your home. He does NOT wish to interact with people he doesn’t know and will feel trapped if forced! His rehabilitation journey is ongoing, aimed at helping him become more comfortable with people in a home environment. His past trauma may stem from previous experiences around strangers who came to the house, leaving him unprepared.
If you're willing to provide the patience, love, and understanding that Ranger needs to continue his healing journey, he could become the devoted companion you've been searching for. Remember, with time and the right environment, Ranger has the potential to be an amazing addition to your family, however being respectful of his boundaries. These boundaries MUST be honored.
Consider opening your heart and home to Ranger, and together, you can create beautiful new memories filled with love, trust, and adventure.
