Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Lenny and Squiggy, our 8 pound, 7 month old chihuahua-pug puppies, are hoping for a miracle! You see, it's a unicorn adopter that will take a special needs puppy. But we're asking for a rainbow unicorn adopter that will adopt TWO special needs puppies! In return? Lenny and Squiggy promise to provide plenty of laughs.
Our Chug puppies came to us from a terrible hoarding situation. They were both born with congenital glaucoma, meaning they were born blind with painful eyes that they couldn't close all the way. Despite that, they were so sweet and friendly that they charmed everyone they met. We removed their painful eyes, making them much more comfortable, and they have completely healed.
Squiggy follows his foster family everywhere and is extremely curious. He has figured out that all of the doors in the house need just a firm nudge and he can open them. Squiggy is quick to learn stairs and ramps and to locate the bed and food/water. He loves to be held like a baby and will reach up to ask for a cuddle. Lenny is a little more reserved but still loves attention. He does a good job of following his brother's lead and likes to lay in the sun and curl up on laps. The boys are very bonded and love to play with each other.
Both dogs love kisses. They have never met a stranger, human or dog, and are very social. Lenny and Squiggy are even respectful of cats. The boys are still working on their potty training, but are getting the hang of it. Because of their blindness, they haven't had much leash training, and a secure yard for them would be recommended. However, blind dogs adapt to their environments quickly and can, with adjustments, do what other dogs can do. Lenny and Squiggy have a learned behavior where they both tilt their heads; this helps them track noises better and is pretty adorable.
Lenny and Squiggy are heartworm negative, microchipped and current on their flea and heartworm preventatives.
We are sure there is a rainbow unicorn out there who has space for two very deserving puppies. Ready for an adorable BOGO? Apply to adopt at www.stumptownstrays.org
