My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

*PLEASE NOTE: Before any adoption is to take place we require all questions below to be answered and we then setup a zoom call with prospective adopters. Mickey is located in Bakersfield. If you are able to come to Bakersfield that is a plus. If not we travel a 100 mile radius to bring a dog to their new home. That includes all of Kern County, Tulare County, Fresno County, and part of Los Angeles. We also STRONGLY suggest if you are unable to adopt currently, meaning you are going away for two weeks, are not available for the next 10 days, please do NOT submit your information for consideration and only do so when you return. We have limited resources and time.***

Meet Mickey Mack!

If there was ever a more perfect Chihuahua ever created we cannot imagine they could possibly be better than our little Mickey Mack! Mickey is a loving young senior Chi that we are estimating to be about 8 years old as he still has energy and is pretty athletic. He is a deer head Chi with long legs and huge button eyes just like Bambi. He weighs about 8 pounds and is happy to be carried around and kissed as much as possible.

Mickey has a sad story which is becoming all too familiar nowadays. Mickey was found on the street by the founder of the rescue. He came up to her seeming to be lost and upset. She put his photo up on all the sites and soon found out via the Next Door app that he was one of 5 Chihuahuas left in the driveway when the owner moved. Mickey had wandered off from the group no doubt looking for his humans.

He is in a private foster home with large dogs, small dogs and cats. At first he was very upset to be left behind and just stayed to himself. But after he realized the food was good, there was lots of treats and cuddles as well as walks with the group he quickly settled in. Mickey loves a good snuggle and his favorite thing is to have a big cushy bed or pillow to lay on. He does get cold easily so he is happy to wear a little shirt or sweater to keep warm.

He is a great leash walker, does not bark much and when you come home he greets you with what we call the "Mack Attack" where he dances on his hind legs and then plays bongos on your leg.

Mickey is a great eater, very sweet and would do well in a wide variety of homes.

His adoption fee includes the following:

1. Neuter
2. Current vaccinations which include DAPP and Rabies
3. Deworming
4. Microchip
5. Starter food
6. Harness and leash

His adoption fee is $300.

As we prescreen via email ONLY (we do NOT make or receive phone calls in the pre-screening phase) please tell us a bit about you such as:
1. Your lifestyle, activity level and work schedule.
2. Area you live in and if it is a house or apartment. (Please indicate city)
3. How many adults, children and pets in the household.
4. Where your pet stays when you are out or at work.
5. Where your pet will sleep.
6. Dog breed experience
7. Have you ever had to give up a pet
8. If you do not currently have a pet how you will keep Mickey socialized with other dogs

Some notes to consider before applying for Mickey:
1. Mickey is a young senior dog. He is housebroken and well behaved but still requires the time investment so he can have the best life.
2. Please make sure you are ready to adopt before coming to see our adoptable dogs. We are a foster based rescue and do not have the space to hold dogs for a couple of weeks while you vacation or make your way to California to come and adopt. We will adopt out of state but ONLY if the potenti comes here to adopt in person and that is after a screening by Skype. WE DO NOT SHIP DOGS EVER.
3. We are often inundated with emails about our adoptable dogs and try as we might to make everyone happy it is nearly impossible with only one dog and sometimes up to 50 potential families. The more information you provide in your email to us the quicker we will get back to you. If you have written to us before about a particular dog and did not receive a response please do try again. We try to answer every email but it is not always possible. Every dog has different home requirements that we search for so sometimes you are the right fit for the dog we are trying to place.
4. PLEASE do NOT send more than one email. It slows down the process.
5. We do not make appointments for people to just come "see" the dogs available. They are in private foster homes and we go through a pre-screening process before any appointments are made.

Thank you for choosing to adopt!
