Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Sir Clover's Backstory:
Having spent most of his life in a NYC bedroom, Clover is used to limited space indoors and tends to stick to a specific area. His person died recently, and the son of his person stepped up in a huge way to find a life that was better than he had before. We owe it to Clover to find ideal for him!
Breed and Hair Notes:
Sir Clover has hair that grows and not fur. He is a stunning blend of Shih Tzu and Poodle with an amazing fluff. He was just given a short summer haircut that is ready to grow back, if desired. We have added a photo of him with longer hair so you can see his various looks in all his handsomeness. He is agreeable to baths at home and calmly stands in a bathtub for them. PLEASE NOTE: his hair will grow indefinitely, and he will need professional grooming every 4-6 weeks. Only apply if you understand the additional maintenance and cost that these dear hair-not-fur souls need and are willing to commit to life for such care.
Get to Know Sir Clover:
Sir Clover is a handsome gent with soulful, trusting eyes. He is calm and quiet. Sweet and loyal. His main goal in life is to bond and stay close to his person. Despite Clover being left alone a lot during the first five years of his life, he is SO ready to be with his people. In his current foster home in Manhattan, he quietly sits with in the room wherever they are, and he loves their hugs and attention. When they leave the room, he quietly joins them and follows them to stay close.
Clover is approximately 5 years old and about 20 pounds. He is neutered and up-to-date on his vaccines. He is currently being taught to go potty indoors on potty pads. He goes outside during walks, too.
He enjoys freshly cooked chicken and rice mixed with vitamins and probiotics. When he's no longer hungry, he stops eating.
Clover enjoys going outside and LOVES his power walks! He wants a family who wants to do this every day with him.
Ideal Home:
Clover shows a bit of stress when his foster leaves home without him. We trust this will calm down as he learns to understand that his people will return. This is why we all believe he will do best in a home where someone works from home or is retired with lots of energy for daily walks. All he wants is to be with his family and make up for the time he spent alone in a bedroom while his person was at work during the day!
If you expect to put Clover in a crate at all during the day or night, please do not apply. Clover will flourish in a home where he can hang out with his people during the day and sleep with them at night.
Clover can successfully be in a home where he is the only dog. He lives in a foster home with multiple dogs, enjoying the company of smaller, quieter dogs. His first home had a cat who was not fond of him, so he’s timid around them. He’d need to be taught that cats are okay in order to live with them again.
Because of his gentleness, he would be okay around children who were taught how to respect and touch a dog under supervision. Loving teenagers would be ideal.
We look forward to finding this gentleman the ideal family who is deserving of his gentleness and loyalty, and we look forward to receiving your application!
