Amy and Mary Pat came into the rescue after their pregnant mother was sold from a WI pet store. They were born May 23, 2023. These girls are cautious but will approach for treats. They love to climb and spend most of their time in the highest hammocks or running the course of tubes in their enclosure. Mary Pat likes to escape and has a grand time evading capture as she does not care to be picked up. Amy is more open to being handled but would prefer a respectable distance. They are squirmy but have never bitten. They are in a large enclosure with other females and get along well with their cage mates of varying ages.
Proof of an adequate enclosure is required: with solid floors and shelves, appropriate bar spacing, and enough room to climb, explore and provide enrichment opportunities. 4 cubic feet or more per rat is optimal.
