My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

Poppy is a very sweet and playful mixed breed. She was adopted from PAWS at 4 months old, but was returned to us 2 years later. We are happy she is back with us because it means that we can find the home and family that she was meant for. At her previous home she was not allowed in the house, luckily she has a thick coat of fur that kept her warm. Her ideal future home is one where she is welcomed inside and is regarded as a true part of the family. She is spayed, up to date on vaccinations, microchipped and available.

Poppy has done well with adults, both men and women. Her ideal home is one with respectful children as she has made it clear that she wants a family to take care of. She loves being groomed and has shown wonderful recall skills, and does very well on a leash. She has not made any messes in her kennel and waits patiently to be let out before doing her business. She has gotten along well with the younger dogs at the shelter and shown respect to the older dogs. She will need her own space at mealtime, and will do best in a home where she can be queen.

Here at PAWS, we are all about second chances. We know that the right family is out there for her, she will remain safe at the shelter with us until the right fit comes along.

Additional adoption info

We are looking for great homes for our dogs. Maybe your home? This is our basic adoption process. We require an adoption application to be filled out that describes your home situation and why you want to adopt. The application includes a number of questions that help us to get to know you, and to determine your situation, and whether the dog would fit into that situation. You must specify several references that will be checked before adoption. In addition, you will need to talk with a PAWS volunteer by phone or in person about the possible adoption. The adoption donation is currently $100.

Our animals either reside in our shelter in Chinook, or they reside in foster homes. People can visit the animals by appointment.

More about this shelter

PAWS of Chinook fills a need in the community by spreading the spay/neuter word, and encouraging responsible pet ownership. We take in strays and owner surrenders, and work to find new homes for them. We do it because we care about companion animals, and want them to have the best life possible in a responsible, loving home.

We appreciate donations, and with more funds, we can save more animals. We'd also love more volunteers and foster homes. Toys, walking dogs, whatever you can do to help would be appreciated!
