Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Hazel is a unique long-haired Dal. She came to PVR as a stray from the Orange County area.
Hazel is estimated to be around 5 years old. She is currently recovering from her spay surgery and an ear infection and will be available for adoption soon.
Hazel is 100% a Velcro-dog who loves to give kisses and snuggle all the time. She does not bark, nor does she engage in self-soothing play with any toys. She is perfectly content just hanging with a human and being CLOSE.
While Hazel is not "bothered" by other K9s (i.e., when they pass by or are near for example) she has demonstrated in a number of days with her current foster home that she is Alpha-A dominant will not fare well with other female dogs in a home, nor dogs who are wanting to engage in active play. She will bare her teeth and nip in these situations.
Lastly, she is semi-potty trained. She will go outside (through a dog door) only when prompted at this time, and she will potty outside. However, she hasn't yet figured out that she must do this on her own when she needs to take care of business, so she is having accidents in the house. Training is in progress, and we are hopeful!
Our preliminary belief is that she will do best in a home where is a solo K9. Given her above-referenced tendencies, we are uncertain if young children in a home would be a good fit for her.
