Buster von Brussow is a very handsome 5-6 year old long haired German Shepherd. He is truly magnificent. All eyes are on him as he seems to prance when he comes out for a walk. He takes treats gently, loves affection and is such a sweet soul. He seems to be housebroken and waits for hours to get his turn for a potty walk. Buster is good on a leash, knows how to heel and listens to directions well. Unfortunately, he’s not a fan of cats though. Buster should be at the top of the list for an owner who has been looking for a good-looking guy, who asks that no other dogs reside in his future home. He was abandoned in the desert and the Good Sam who found him begged us to get Buster out of the animal shelter after his hold-time, before it was too late! Could you give him the ultimate chance of a loving forever home?

Based on our experience, Westside's current thinking is to usually match first-time shepherd owners with a mix versus a purebred shepherd. Mixes are "softer" and somewhat more malleable. Exceptions can be made, however, for first-time adopters who show the confidence and leadership tendencies that purebreds will respect and respond to. Counselors have to use good judgment in assessing the attributes of the adopter, as well as of the dog. If you have doubts, get a second opinion from Robin or another experienced counselor.

Upon receipt of your application, a Westside adoption counselor will contact you.We do aerial home checks and you may be asked to supply pictures as well as arranging for a home visit prior to adoption.
Adoption fees vary with each dog and typically range from $150 to $500. They are set, taking into account the dog's age, training level, temperament, if they’re newly arrived, medical condition(s) (if any) and other factors. Adoption fees are used not only to rescue and place the dog you are personally adopting, but to aid in the future rescue and rehabilitation of other deserving dogs. Adoption fees are necessary; without fees, our rescue efforts would quickly come to an end. The adoption fee includes spay/neuter, microchip, and up-to-date vaccinations.
