Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Arya is a 3 month old female who is 75% Chihuahua, 25% French Bulldog. Unfortunately, she came from a breeding situation where the "breeder" was allowing two dogs who were Merle or who carried the Merle gene to mate. This causes an anomaly called "double dapple". Most double dapple puppies are born either blind, deaf or both. The "breeder" was having a tough time finding someone to purchase the puppies, so a friend of our stepped in to secure their safety.
We believe that Arya is completely blind and also deaf. She has malformations of the non-seeing eyes, but is thankfully not in pain, and it does not affect her quality of life. She is a typical happy, playful pup!
Arya does seek the comfort of people more than other dogs. She will spend some time exploring and occasionally engaging/playing with the other dogs in her foster home, but she really prefers knowing a human is near. She's such a sweet, happy little girl and is expected to live a normal life with the right family!
Ideally, she'd go to an experienced home, as she is not a puppy for first time owners. Her new family will understand that in the future, there's a small possibility that she may need issues with her eyes addressed (there's no way for us to know for sure at this point). Arya would go to a single family home instead of apartment/condo settings, as she is not a big fan of being left alone and will sing the song of her people for all to hear!
Arya would thrive in a home with another social and playful dog, or could be fine as a one and only if her people are home more than not. She's still working on potty training and is a newbie to leash walking. She'd be fine in a home with kitty friends. We prefer that Arya go to a family with older kids age 8+ due to her special needs. Arya will likely be under 30lb as a grown adult.
