Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
I found a new home! Plenty of my friends are looking for one too. Check out other pets at this shelter, or start a new search.

In addition to the following profile for this dog, please first read the Adoption Information at http://www.shihtzurescuemn.org/adopt.html to understand the process, requirements and timeline for adoption. An adoption application can also be found in the Adoption Info section. If, after reading that information, you have any questions, please submit your question via e-mail and it will be answered. Please do not request a phone call. A personal phone call will only be made when an adoption application has been submitted and the foster parent wishes to consider the application. Thank you!
This is Katie. She is five years old, weighs 12 pounds, and is quite shy. She came from a puppy mill where she was caged to just constantly produce puppies. She is a good eater, is learning to walk on a leash and to potty on grass. She is working on her potty training and going up/down the stairs. Katie has made great progress with her shyness and now sleeps in bed with her foster mom and foster dog sister, Abby. Another small, gentle female dog in her new home may be okay depending on compatibility. Katie isn’t very fond of male dogs at this time.
Katie needs to be adopted into a new home with the following requirements:
*A home with no children, or children visiting regularly.
*New owners will be home most of the time.
*Experienced dog owner. Her new family must understand and have experience with rescue dogs going through a life transition. She is still skittish, especially with loud noises. She is also anxious when seeing a large dog on our walks.
*Continue to work with Katie’s potty training, leash walking, and basic training.
*Love her unconditionally. Be patient with her.
*Foster mom would prefer that adopters live within 50 miles of Bloomington MN.
*Agree to attend the annual Shih Tzu Rescue Reunion held each year in September.
Katie is current on vaccinations, microchipped, and on heartworm and flea/tick preventative. She has also been spayed and had her teeth cleaned. Her adoption fee is $320.00 plus $24.08 in state sales tax for a total of $344.08.
To meet Katie, please complete an adoption application at the website listed in the first paragraph. Or you can also see her and the other dogs available for adoption from Shih Tzu Rescue of Minnesota by visiting with us from 10:00 AM to 12:00 noon the first Saturday of every month at Chuck and Don’s at 6821 York Avenue South, Edina near Southdale.
