My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

PLEASE NOTE: We always check vet references. Current pets must be up to date on vaccines and care. Unfortunately due to recent events with our rescue, adopters must live within a 30 minute drive of St. Louis' Central West End. (See our FB page for more details.)

Meet Kendall (gray) and Roman (orange) Roy!! These two sweeties came to the St. Louis Senior Dog Project along with their "mom" Lady Caroline after being born into a sad hoarding situation. When the owner of the home passed away, SLSDP came in to help as many of the cats we could. While many of the kittens had passed away, Roman and Kendall were little survivors. They made it out alive and into our care where we are doing everything in our power to get them healthy, happy, and socialized!

Both boys were likely born at the end of April/early May and are about one week apart from one another in age. Both are male kitties. Romey and Kenny will be neutered either prior to adoption OR we will ask the adopter to sign a neuter contract and to bring them to their appointment at our vet.

We say "mom" above because (and this one will make you tear up!), in this hoarding situation, there were so many cats and kittens and many didn't make it, so one of the mama kitties (Lady Caroline) took both Roman and Kendall into her care even though we think they likely are not her actual babies. She seems to have had a litter maybe in early April, so was able to nurse K & R when they needed it. We call her their adoptive mama.

Since June, all three have been together in foster care and are doing amazing!! Kendall is getting much better about letting people handle him, and while Roman is more on the shy side he just needs patience and time to come out of his shell. Kenny loves watching shadows (including his own - see photos!) and Roman loves finding kitty toys to play with and new hiding spots to creep around in. They enjoy snuggling together and getting in a good sunbath. They both love their food and are great eaters. Kendall does have one missing eye (right), likely from an infection at birth. His left eye is cloudy, but it does seem that he has some sight as he responds well to movement, shadows, etc. He does not let this stop him one bit and is a normal, brave little guy!

These poor sweet boys had such a rough start to life, but they are truly on their way up and meant to be house kitties. They will need adopters who understand they are shy and who are willing to go slow while loving them unconditionally.

If you'd like to learn more about meeting and adopting Kendall and Roman, please review our adoption process and submit an application at www.stlsdp.org!
