Gene doesn’t care whatsoever that this is 7 PUPS from the Pines.
Gene was found all alone, meowing in a tree on our property the night of 7/11/23. His estimated DOB is 6/1/23 (currently 7 weeks old as of 7/19/23)
We are not cat people. To be honest, we weren’t even entirely sure if Gene was a male or female, and he went by Linda for a week. So he might not be a pup, and we might just be figuring this all out as we go along. But with all of our cat-friends in rescue full with other kitties needing homes, we are giving Gene our best and hoping to help him find his way to his furever home.
Gene is incredibly affectionate and playful. He is a great snuggle buddy, and purrs with any human contact. He definitely has the whole “cuddly nap-time” thing mastered already. He is also very curious, and it’s a uniquely fun experience watching him explore and figure out the world around him. He loves toys with bells, strings, the laser pointer, and sometimes gets what we dog people call “the Zoomies.” He rides well in the car (he’s a very quiet co-pilot) and quickly gains his confidence in new situations. Gene held his own when he was initially met by the Pups from the Pines with barking (we ALL have a lot to say over here, and that includes Gene….if he wants something from you, he will make sure you know about it)
Gene had his first wellness exam from the veterinarian on 7/19/23 and weighed a little over 2lbs. He was started on Revolution & will return on 7/26/23 to begin his vaccination series (FVRCP, leukemia, & rabies). He will be neutered when he is old enough to safely do so. He will also be microchipped prior to adoption (this includes lifetime registration.)
Gene is available for adoption! However, if you aren’t totally sold on him just yet, we offer a Foster-to-Adopt option. This program allows approved applicants to bring an animal into their home to monitor the dynamic with other pets and make sure the addition to the family is a positive experience for everyone involved.
CAT PEOPLE: If y’all don’t get this kitten out of my house soon, he’s going to start thinking that he is a dog. I’ll have him walking on a leash and everything. He’s probably confused enough with the whole “Linda” thing, so if you truly believe that Cats Rule & Dogs Drool, come get your boy!
