My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Forrest Gump. Forrest and his brother were rescued from a hoarding situation in the outer Houston area. They are approximately 2 years old and are a dachshund mix (with possible miniature aussie). He has an amazingly striking merle coat pattern and currently weighs about 14 lbs. Forrest is neutered, up to date on his vaccinations and heartworm negative. He is kennel trained, great with other dogs, cats and kids. Forrest is a little shy when meeting someone new, but quickly warms up once he realizes he is not in harms way - especially when offered a treat :)
When we received both Forrest and his brother, we quickly realized that Forrest has a minor birth defect, affecting his two front paws. After an X-ray was performed, it was determined that he was missing some of his metatarsals. Forrest is not in any pain but does get tired if walking outside for an extended amount of time. His defect definitely does not slow him down when inside begging for his next treat!
Forrest is currently in a foster home along with multiple dogs and cats. He is wonderful with all of his foster fur-siblings. Forrest is a happy and playful pup and thrives on the company and interaction of other dogs. With this being the case, Forrest must be adopted into a home with other dogs. If you are looking for a small dog who is mild mannered, calm and quiet and LOVES to sit on your lap and cuddle - look no further than Forrest Gump.
