Are you looking for a puppy that happens to be the size and weight of a full grown dog? Well, you found her! Nikita is a baby in all ways except looks. She’s mouthy, whiny, constantly needs attention, doesn’t understand boundaries, chews on everything she can reach, and occasionally has accidents in the house. Truly, a perfect combo. Who wouldn’t want to adopt this asshole? Beautiful Nikita is actual proof that hot girls are always crazy.
All jokes aside, Nikki is a very sweet pup who is just learning the basics of living with a family after being in a shelter for almost six months. While she can be frustrating at times (especially when she steals your AirPod case and throws it under the couch), she is a very sweet girl who loves every dog and person she meets. So much so that she tries to run up to everything that moves on her walks. The prey drive is strong in this one. We have to be especially careful bringing her out at night as she will pull you across the street if she sees a bunny. Though she has been working hard learning how to be more polite on the leash.
As far as training goes, Nikita knows some basic cues such as sit, down, stay, and drop it. “Drop it” is extremely important for her since her favorite thing to do is pick up random things she should not have. She is in the process of being crate trained, but she will cry if there is no food or something to distract her. Do not let the crying trick you, she will be a menace once released from the crate. She will also find some secret corner in which to drop giant, surprise shits for you to find later. She’s very thoughtful like that.
I know she sounds like a lot so far, and honestly she is. However, she is very funny as well. She loves playing with the hose, though she does not seem to be a huge fan of sprinklers. Her legs seem almost too long for her body at times, so she is very clumsy. We honestly think she may have some Great Dane in her. She and her foster brother, a male pit mix, love each other dearly and are constantly harassing one another. Foster bro loves to get in her face when she has treats or a toy, and she lets him. Like I said before, she loves other dogs.
But don’t worry, she loves people too! She’ll snuggle up next to you on the couch and/or drape her body on top of your face until you can’t breathe. Suffocation is Nikita’s love language.
An ideal home for Nikki would have a yard and another dog. That or an extremely active family that can take her on very long, tiring walks and adventures to get her energy out. They would also be willing to work with a puppy who still needs some training. Baby proofing your house may be necessary. She has been left in her crate for extended hours with no accidents or attempts of escape, so you can be away from home for work and not worry about her. Give this sweet girl a chance!
