Here's what the humans have to say about me:
DINO will be 8 years old in August. This wonderful boy is in need of a new furever family because sadly, through no fault of their own, life circumstances have come about and his owners are no longer able give him the care and time the same way they have since he was a puppy. His "mother" loves him very much and only want what's best for DINO -- to be adopted and welcomed as a family member into a compatible safe, loving home for the rest of his life! He no longer lives in the home with the family and his fellow fur buddies and no longer is taken for waks. Instead, the family had to make the decision to board him in a vet clinic. This is not an environment he should be in for a long period of time before he will become depressed, lethargic, lonely and will regress.
DETAILS: DINO is neutered, current on vaccinations, house trained, doggy door trained, "alerts" with barks when a new person arrives to the home, but is not a 'guard dog' in any way....he just wants to meet them and will follow them until he does (a new friend, yippee!) DINO KNOWS HIS NAME. He knows his commands, he was professionally leash trained, loves to go for walks and walk trails (please always keep him on leash--he's a dog and relies on his human's common sense to keep him safe while he's being a dog -- discovering and sniffing around!) he also needs to be wearing a harness/vest. He should continue to wear his collar, especially because his adopter will be required to attach his name and new contact info tag to it. He loves being outside and will play with his human, however he is an indoor dog and enjoys snoozing in a comfy bed. He grew up with and lived with smaller dogs and cats (see pics), the cat was his 'bestie', however DINO has never lived or been around children, and as such, he is very nervous and uncomfortable around them. Knowing this, his home should not have CHILDREN WHO LIVE THERE OR CHILDREN WHO VISIT, WHO ARE YOUNGER THAN 18 YRS. OLD. (He is 8 years old, so sorry, no exceptions). DINO has always attended and enjoyed Doggy Day Care a few days a week for his entire life, where he receives lots of exercise, socialization, attention, interaction and play time! This is a good habit to continue for his well being. If you are gone during the day.
DINO would be happy with an active retired couple (with or without adult children), and with or without other socialized pets (must be spayed, neutered and current on vaccinations), taking daily walks and companionship! He rides well in the vehicle but if it is lifted or tall, he will need some assistance loading and unloading so he doesn't get injured.
This is a courtesy listing and DINO does not reside at Puppy Dog Rescue & Sanctuary in Arenas Valley or Las Cruces, NM and due to life circumstances, he is unable to live with his human mother. He is now being boarded in a vet clinic and I have asked his human "mother" to put him back in doggy day care a few days a week, which she has agreed to.
DINO AND HIS HUMAN "MOTHER" RESIDE IN SILVER CITY, NEW MEXICO. For questions, more info, an adoption application please email us at puppydogranch@rocketmail.com. Adopters will be pre-screened for compatibility prior to scheduling a meet - n - greet in Silver City / Puppy Dog Ranch Rescue-Arenas Valley, and if qualified, a pre-adoption sleepover.
Laurie's Note: I do not know at this time if DINO is microchipped, but will find out. He must be microchipped, or microchip must be updated upon adoption.
**We do not transport or ship dogs. All adopters (the entire family including other pets) must make the trip to meet DINO, or must be a supervised introduction in the home. An adequately fully fenced yard with locking gates is required. No dogs are allowed to be chained, tethered, to live outside or be left unattended outside for longer than a 1/2 hour, for his safety. Water, shade and access to the home are required. If a yard inspection is not possible, adopter must provide photos.**
