The name "Phoebe" means brilliant, radiant, shining one. I suppose that is very fitting, our little Phoebe has proven herself to be such. She has straightened her little crown and moved on from a deplorable past, and has emerged as such a radiant and brave girl.
We were contacted by a woman about a dog that was abandoned in a trailer, all alone, no electricity and in the heat of the season. Her "person" had some of his own difficulties and moved on, but I suppose thankfully, let some people know the little dog was left on her own. We were told some family members would occasionally pop in and feed and water Phoebe, but for the most part, she was alone. Well, alone except for the thousands of flea's that were infesting her body, judging from her discomfort, I am guessing they were not much company.
Phoebe arrived filthy, with scaly/scabby skin, hair loss, and the hair she did retain was matted. She had to be sheared down to the skin, just to remove the filth, but also to be able to have access to all those horrible critters feeding on her poor little body. Although she was scared and anxious, Phoebe seemed almost grateful for what she was enduring.
Well, that is the ugly part of her journey, and she has put that soooo far in her past. She has had terrific medical care, had all of her vaccinations updated, a microchip, a fecal, as well as labs. And like the trouper that she is, she is radiating now, her labs have come back incredibly well, her body is healing, and her lab results are as expected and normal. Phoebe is still on a prescription moisturizing shampoo for her skin for the next couple of weeks. But, we are so proud of her, her coat is coming in so glossy, a little curly, a little wavy. Her eyes sparkle and she has found joy in her life.
Phoebe is 5 years old(estimated), and is guessed to be a Malti-Poo. There is so much more to this delightful girl than her medical records and rough past. Phoebe loves the other dogs, she enjoys running in the yard, exploring everything, going for walks, sitting in your lap(once she feels safe with you) and even seems to enjoy her bath/massage. She can be shy meeting new people, you can't really blame her! But once she warms up, you are her world! She is looking for an active even outdoorsy family, she loves being outside. She may prefer older kids, but after all of her idle time alone, she is not one to be much of a couch potato all day long. This girl has some lost time to make up for and she is ready for a family that wants to show her a little more of how great life can be!! Her adoption fee is $325.
