My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Cheery, our 9 year old 13 pound terrier mix, has a lot to say. She'll tell you what she's been up to all day when you come home. She'll regale you with stories from her past life as a stray. She will also happily tattle on her housemates if they are doing something naughty. This funny little dog has been a delight to have in our care, and we're so happy that she's ready to spread her cheer to her forever home.

Cheery was in rough shape when we took her in. She has a heart murmur, which at this point appears to be benign, but also had terrible dental disease, mammary masses and a prolapsed gland in her third eyelid. We've addressed her teeth (she lost most of them), removed her masses (also benign, yay!), spayed her and fixed her eyelid. That is a lot for one dog to have done, but Cheery was a champ throughout it all.

Perfectly potty trained, Cheery has never had an accident in her foster home. Although she is a talkative dog, she does so just to have conversations with her person. She doesn't bark when left alone and is very polite in the house. Cheery was great with the cats that she's met and was comfortable with both small and large dogs. She loves a car ride and a trip to the store. Cheery is happy to go on walks but just as happy to curl up on the couch for most of the day.

Cheery is microchipped, heartworm negative and current on her flea and heartworm preventatives.

Have you been spending time having one-sided conversations? Been missing someone who will happily talk back to you? Well Cheery may be who you're looking for! Apply to adopt at www.stumptownstrays.org
