My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Snickers is a fun, affectionate young lady.  She enjoys cuddles but also like to play. She is pretty laid back and loves other dogs and kids. Snickers would like a family that will offer tons of attention and affection; she prefers to be where the action is and not left all by her lonesome.  A home with another dog would be great, but plenty of human attention will do just fine. Snickers is full grown at 45lbs and is just over a year old.  Please visit our website schspets.org and complete the online adoption application if interested and you will be contacted to arrange a visit and meet Snickers. Or you can call the shelter for more information 870-269-5200.

More about this shelter

The Stone County Humane Society is a 501(C)(3) private organization, not a government entity that was formed in 1999. We rescue dogs and cats and are a no-kill shelter but we are not an open take in facility. We are currently operating from our new shelter building recently completed in August 2016 and a cat cottage. Our organization is managed by a volunteer board of 10 individuals and a full-time paid employee shelter manager that handles the day to day operations, and three part-time paid employees that feed and care for the animals and keep the facility clean. Most of our daily operations are funded by proceeds from a Second Chance Shop in town and donations from individuals. We also provide low cost spay/neuter clinics to the people of our county with help from a local vet.
