My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Behold, fair subjects of the dog kingdom, for Princess Aster has arrived! At just eight months old, this regal and graceful young pup is ready to charm her way into your heart and bring a touch of royalty to your home. With her impeccable manners and princess-like qualities, Aster is the perfect companion fit for a kingdom of love and adventure.

Princess Aster's noble upbringing shines through in her impressive potty-training skills. She understands the importance of maintaining a pristine castle and will graciously relieve herself in the appropriate designated areas. A true princess, she aims to keep her surroundings tidy and elegant at all times.

Having lived with another dog, Princess Aster knows the art of diplomacy and friendship. She embraces the camaraderie and is always ready for playdates with her fellow four-legged companions. Watching her gracefully engage in delightful romps and playful chases is a sight fit for a royal ball.

In addition to her social graces, Princess Aster is well-versed in the art of crate training. She understands the value of her own royal chambers, a safe haven where she can retreat and relax after a day filled with adventures.

Beneath her elegant exterior lies a heart brimming with playfulness and sweetness. Princess Aster adores engaging in spirited games and will keep you entertained with her joyful antics. Fetch, tug-of-war, or a leisurely stroll through the royal gardens - she is always ready for whatever fun awaits. Her playful nature combined with her gentle spirit make her a true treasure to behold.

More about this shelter

The South Suburban Humane Society is a 501(c )(3) organization that was started in 1970, serving the animal welfare needs of the entire south suburbs of Chicago. In the beginning, we handled all rescues, adoptions and provided foster care out of private homes. Since November 1973, our organization has been operating a 10,000 square foot open-door animal shelter in Chicago Heights, Illinois.

For over fifty years, our organization has helped tens of thousands of animals. We offer extensive outreach programs including humane education, and community outreach events. We also operate a resale shop located in Steger, Illinois that promotes our organization, our animals and provide much needed income to support our humane work.

The Mission of the South Suburban Humane Society is to protect and promote the well being of pets and their people in our community and beyond.
