My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Antonio! This HANDSOME tabby is about 3.5 years old. He was found by warehouse employees when he was left abandoned in a cat carrier on the premises(3/2023). He’s been with us ever since. We have no idea what Antonio’s life was like before his rescue, but we do know that his human(s) let him down. It’s now our job to do the right thing for Antonio.
Antonio likes catnip & cat naps. He doesn’t care for other felines, so Antonio should be your one and only cat; he’s never been tested with dogs.
We feel that Antonio would do best in a quiet home with no young children as well. Working from home is a plus to keep this sweet man company, or someone who’s retired and spends a lot of time at home. Both you and Antonio will enjoy each other’s company!

If you’re interested in adopting Antonio, please fill out an adoption application at https://www.care4strays.org/adoption-application

If you would like to foster Antonio, you can fill out a foster application at https://www.care4strays.org/foster-application

Becoming a foster means all of the joy without a long-term commitment, all while making an important contribution to the effort to save cats’ lives.
C.A.T.S. will supply the food, litter and any necessary medical treatment while you provide the love and dedication.

Please note our service area is the Pascack Valley within Bergen County, NJ and its surrounding area. Please consider our distance when applying to adopt an animal,  as we personally deliver all adopted animals to their forever homes.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

The first step in our process is to fill out our online application at our website, www.care4strays.org. Once received, it will be reviewed by one of our trained volunteers. If approved, we'll be in touch to arrange a "meet and greet" with the animal. All of our cats/dogs are in private foster homes.

Adoption application

Go meet their pets

Our animals are given wonderful care in private foster homes. In order to meet them, we require a completed application, which you can find at our website, www.care4strays.org.

Also, please check our website for adoption events.

More about this rescue

Since our founding in 1995 by Lynn Cancro, Caring About The Strays (C.A.T.S.), Inc. has worked to find “forever homes” for abandoned, unwanted, neglected, or abused companion animals.

All the animals in our care are in foster homes, which helps socialize the cat or dog and allows us to identify the best type of home for each animal to ensure a successful adoption. We also work to reduce the overpopulation of feral cats with our Trap-Neuter-Release program. In addition, our team also strives to educate the public about the importance of spaying or neutering their pets to decrease the number of unwanted pets.

C.A.T.S. is not a shelter in the traditional sense; we rely on private foster homes to house the many unwanted animals in our care.

Our Resale Shop (80 Kinderkamack Road in Westwood, NJ) helps fund our efforts. Please consider donating to our Resale Shop. Donations of brand-new and gently-used items are needed year-round and can be donated during shop hours Monday – Saturday 10:00 – 5:00.
