Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
I found a new home! Plenty of my friends are looking for one too. Check out other pets at this shelter, or start a new search.

Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Astro is fully vetted now and ready for adoption!! PLEASE SHARE!! Dogs Deserve Better Blue Ridge took Astro from Rockbridge SPCA a few months ago after a tragic incident left him without an owner. Thanks to his awesome foster mom for writing his adoption post, taking great photos of him, and loving him so much
“GO BIG OR GO HOME! Not only do I weigh close to 100 pounds - but I have a huge heart, a big personality and a giant smile for everyone I meet.
Oh, and you can also use me as a big pillow! I am proud of my magnificent big fluffy tail. I have big brown eyes that can look right into your soul. And I have been told that I look (but not act!) like a big yellow wolf.
Even though my previous owner met some hard times, my Foster family believes that I was loved at my former home because I am so gentle, happy and trusting. I know how to shake, I am very well housebroken, and I rarely bark. No one taught me this - but I love to cross my front legs when I lie down.
I am seriously huggable, in fact, my Foster family cannot resist hugging me around the clock (I do have to admit that I am irresistible)! The same goes for every single visitor to my Foster home - they just want to pet and hug me and I snuggle right on up to them to help them feel at home. I challenge you to find another dog who weighs 100 pounds who is as gentle and loving as I am!
I get along with dogs of all sizes - even the 2 ten-pound yappers that I share my Foster home with. I also welcome visiting dogs to my home - especially if they want to play with me, and I have met many dogs in public places (where I am pretty good on a leash), including a brewery event. I haven’t met a cat yet at my Foster home but that could be arranged.
My perfect home might have a porch for me to hold down in between running and playing in a fenced yard (I’m reported to be 10, but I’ve been known to do a zoomie or two!). A single person, a couple or a whole family (more for me to love) would work for me. I can be an only dog, or cohabitate with other dogs. I can be trusted to stay in the house alone, or happy to keep you company while you work from home.
My breed? Your guess is as good as mine… my Foster mom thinks Husky, Yellow Lab and Great Pyrenees - but wouldn’t it be fun to do a DNA test?!
Anyway, back to the matter at hand - I am looking for a forever home with people who are looking for 100 pounds of love!” Much Love, Astro and his foster mom
