This happy 3-year-old kitty really has something to smile about! Whilst living on the streets sadly he was being bullied and abused by the neighborhood kids. When he came to us, he was standoffish and had a strong dislike for other cats. We realized what he needed was some kindness and a gentle touch to make him more comfortable and relaxed; and of course, a cat free zone. He’s now in the hands of a loving and caring foster mom who is giving him just that!
Being in a home environment has given Rigby the chance to be the cat he really is; he’s a very playful lad, friendly, and loves cuddling. He is always following his foster mom around looking for attention, enjoys a good view from the windowsill, and he really likes other people, even older kids. That’s quite a turnaround!
He has a lot of spunk, he’s curious, and always comes to cuddle with his foster mom in the morning after a bit of nighttime play. He tolerates being picked up and held but gets restless and wants down rather quickly. When over stimulated sometimes he can swat, but nothing aggressive. His foster is over the moon about him and we’re sure you’ll feel the same when you meet this affectionate kitty!

Additional adoption info
Many of our adoptable cats are rescued from other shelters where they likely wouldn't have made it very long. We are a "no-kill" shelter, which means our kitties have ample time to patiently wait for their forever home. Our volunteers get to know each cat very well and we pride ourselves on our matchmaking skills.
Each potential adopter is screened to make sure they are the best match for them and for the cat they are interested in. We can find you the purrrrfect fit!
All of our cats are current on their vaccinations, microchipped, spayed/neutered, treated for parasites, and tested for FIV & FeLV. If you'd like to adopt through our program, please contact our Adoptions Coordinators at adoptionscpcp@gmail.com.
Please keep in mind that every adoption requires application approval and payment of an adoption fee. Single kittens and adults under 10 years of age have an adoption fee of $100 while pairs are $150. Seniors and special needs cats are $75 for one and $100 for a pair. We will not be separating bonded pairs. CPCP follows a 2-kitten policy, meaning that all kittens must be adopted in pairs unless the adopter has another young cat in the household that can serve as a playmate for the new kitten.
Please do not hesitate to ask questions if you have any, and thank you for choosing to help homeless pets in need! To get started on our adoption process, please email us at adoptionscpcp@gmail.com!

More about this rescue
The Cal Poly Cat Program (CPCP) is a non-profit shelter operating on Cal Poly San Luis Obispo University's campus. Our organization is made up of students, faculty, staff and community members who care about the health and happiness of both feral and domesticated cats. The program was started in 1992 as a senior project by Garret Quindimil to solve the problem of a rising cat population at Cal Poly. Using TNR, the cat population has been successfully managed and our volunteers are able to focus their attention on rehoming cats in need. Our adoption program has placed more than 3,000 cats and kittens into caring homes. We continue to work with other agencies to reach a time when there are no more homeless cats.
