Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
I found a new home! Plenty of my friends are looking for one too. Check out other pets at this shelter, or start a new search.

Here's what the humans have to say about me:
**PLEASE NOTE: Before any adoption is to take place we require all questions below to be answered and we then setup a zoom call with prospective adopters. Princess is located in Bakersfield. If you are able to come to Bakersfield that is a plus. If not we travel a 100 mile radius to bring a dog to their new home. That includes all of Kern County, Tulare County, Fresno County, and part of Los Angeles as well as Paso Robles. Any distances further than that will be considered with a travel fee. Due to time constraints only one in person meeting will be scheduled. If you have applied for a dog previously we encourage you to try again. We often have many great adopters for each dog and unfortunately select the one that seems the best fit for that dog.)***
Meet Princess!
If you are looking for a little girl who LOVES to cuddle and be as close to you as possible then Princess is your girl! This very small girl is going on 1 year old and is a mix of predominantly Yorkie and Shih Tzu with some other terrier thrown in. She has a beautiful red and white coat and although she sheds it is minimal. She currently weighs about 6 pounds and we are trying to bulk her up to about 7 pounds!
This little girl, along with her sister Queenie who is also available, had a rough start to life. One of our fosters knew her previous owner who passed away but did not know what kind of shape her dogs were in. When the owner passed away she was able to take in the girls who were severely underweight and matted and had rarely even been outside. Since being in foster care they have begun blossoming! Princess seeks you out for love and affection all the time. She is good with other dogs and cats. She is great with kids as she has been around a 10 year old and 13 year old.
Due to the fact that she was not fed much before the owner died she is ravenous for food but she isn't aggressive. She just eats very fast as if she is afraid she won't see food again. We have her on a weight gain diet eating 3 meals a day.
She would do well in several different type of family situations as she is young and eager to please.
Her adoption fee includes the following:
1. Two sets of DAPP vaccine
2. Rabies vaccine
3. Spay at one of the clinics we utilize per the terms of our contract
4. Deworming
5. Starter food
6. Harness and leash
7. Small dog carrier
Her adoption fee is $450.
As we prescreen via email ONLY (we do NOT make or receive phone calls in the pre-screening phase) please tell us a bit about you such as:
1. Your lifestyle, activity level and work schedule.
2. Area you live in and if it is a house or apartment. (Please indicate city)
3. How many adults, children and pets in the household.
4. Where your pet stays when you are out or at work.
5. Where your pet will sleep.
6. Dog breed experience
7. Have you ever had to give up a pet
8. If you do not currently have a pet how you will keep Princess socialized with other dogs
Some notes to consider before applying for Princess:
1. Princess is a nearly one year old puppy. She is shy at first but makes for a great companion with time and patience.. Please make sure that everyone is on board and ready for the responsibility of a puppy.
2. Please make sure you are ready to adopt before coming to see our adoptable dogs. We are a foster based rescue and do not have the space to hold dogs for a couple of weeks while you vacation or make your way to California to come and adopt. We will adopt out of state but ONLY if the potential adopter comes here to adopt in person and that is after a screening by ZOOM. WE DO NOT SHIP DOGS EVER. If you are not ready to adopt WHEN the dog is available please wait to write in when you are.
3. We are often inundated with emails about our adoptable dogs and try as we might to make everyone happy it is nearly impossible with only one dog and sometimes up to 50 potential families. The more information you provide in your email to us the quicker we will get back to you. If you have written to us before about a particular dog and did not receive a response please do try again. We try to answer every email but it is not always possible. Every dog has different home requirements that we search for so sometimes you are the right fit for the dog we are trying to place.
4. PLEASE do NOT send more than one email. It slows down the process.
5. We do not make appointments for people to just come "see" the dogs available. They are in private foster homes and we go through a pre-screening process before any appointments are made.
Thank you for choosing to adopt!
