My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

He'll get the ball rollin'!

....And will play till it's nap time! I am Gus and I am a 6 years old, neutered Hound mix, about 48 lbs, and I like to act like I'm an ol' grampa! I am fully bathroom and leash trained. Not a fan of the crate and prefer free roaming. I was adopted and had a family but they are moving. So yeah, am back to TAP to find my furever, and really furever family.

I am a pretty chill boy and love napping more than anything, specially with cuddles! But ball is life too! I love to play, and I'm great with all people and older kids and teenagers to help be gentle in play with me. I have some hip arthritis and I started just started a monthly injection of Librela (Cost depends on established vet pricing and dosage, ~$100-$200). It is the first and only monthly anti-NGF Monoclonal antibody injection to help control pain for canines with Osteoarthritis. I take joint supplements (Dasuquin, ~$40.00 for a three-month’s supply, depending on where purchased and market value). I am not a lover of other dogs and would rather be the only dog. I can stay by myself too for shorter periods of time.

I would love a mellow family where I can be the only pet and get all the cuddles to myself. I will be the most affectionate and loyal companion, and super low maintenance. Simply adaptable is my nature after all! My adoption fee is $250 and that includes spaying/neutering, shots, and microchip. If you want to take me home, please fill out the form on the website here: https://theanimalpad.org/adoption-application/

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

We prioritize local San Diego applicants. We do not provide transport of dogs to other states, and don't allow the dogs to fly in the cargo of the plane.
Our adoption process from start to finish, involves 3 standard forms, and 2 situational.
All potential applicants must be capable of providing their adopted pet with routine and emergency veterinary care (yearly health checks, keeping vaccinations current, heartworm/flea preventatives, and immediate care in the event the animal is sick or injured). They are required to license their pet, and keep an identification tag on their pet at all times.
All applicants must agree to a home check, and provide us with a veterinary reference, or personal references if you're a first-time pet owner. Our home checks are not to invade the privacy of the applicants, we do this to ensure the pet is going into a safe home. We do not discriminate against non-homeowners, or those living in apartments, condos, or otherwise.
Our adoption fees vary from $150-1000.
Applicants must agree in writing that if for any reason they are unable to keep or care for their pet, the pet will be surrendered back to our rescue and not re-homed, turned over to a shelter, pound, rescue, new owner, sold, etc.

More about this rescue

Overview
The Animal Pad is a nonprofit, all-breed dog rescue devoted to saving the lives of dogs facing euthanasia at high kill animal shelters and off the streets of Mexico. We rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home locally.

We are dedicated to animal advocacy, and educating dog owners on the importance of spaying and neutering their pets. We are a foster based rescue, and rely heavily on the kindness and generosity of the amazing people who make donations toward the rescue and care of the dogs we save.

We are always looking for adopters, fosters, donations, volunteers, etc.. Please let us know if you would like to get involved by contacting us at one of the email addresses found below.
