I AM A BIEWER TERRIER/PARTI YORKIE!
7/19/23 - Stevie has been discharged and doing well. He will go back on 8/1 for a recheck and suture removal. Thanks for all your prayers.
7/18/23 - Stevie just came out of surgery and is resting comfortably. They repaired the luxating patella and after going in, there was actually a partial cruciate tear that they also saw and repaired. Now to rest, heal and start new with a better left leg than before.
7/8/23 - Stevie is scheduled for surgery on his back left leg on July 18th. We are so looking forward to the outcome. The estimate is $3,200 - $3,400 from Capital Area Veterinary Specialists.
7/5/23 - Happy belated 4th of July! Have you ever seen a cuter face? Me either! But, don’t tell all the others on the site, I’m not one to hurt anyone’s feelings.
I came to my foster home with Lucy that is on the site, but we are not attached, so can be adopted separately. I too was bounced around a few homes with people who thought they wanted a dog, only to realize they did not. Ultimately, we were both surrendered to a shelter. The nice shelter people knew just who to call since we were quickly scooped up and brought to our foster home. Here we have learned that dogs are way more important in life than we previously thought. Apparently, us four-leggers rule the roost. However, this new information has not changed my sweet demeanor. A trait some of you humans should learn to master.
I guess I should first tell you about my back legs. I have luxating patellas on both back legs, something that is very common in my breed. My right leg will be fine, but the orthopedic surgeon recommended surgery for my back left leg. He also said that he did not see a fracture which the regular vet thought she saw in the beginning. That is very good news for me. So, foster mom will be setting up my surgery and then I’ll have to take it easy to heal and then I’ll be trotting around like a show horse.
I get along with all the other dogs in my foster home, but won’t be mad if you don’t have any others and want me to be the only baby in the home. Foster mom and I had a talk and she said I can ask for anything I want in my new home, so here goes.
- I must be able sleep with my mom/dad.
- I would like free roam of the house when you have to run errands. I’m very good and won’t mess up anything.
- You must allow me to sit in your lap when you are relaxing. I promise to take your stress away.
- You must allow kisses and snuggles. They are my best trait.
- Need a mom/dad that is ok with my being clingy. I love with all my heart.
I hope that didn’t scare you off, but I have to be up front this time so I know you are in it for the long haul. I’m pretty good on my potty habits if you are pretty consistent about bringing me out, but pee pads would be awesome. I have a very good personality and again, I hate to hurt anyone’s feelings, but I am totally handsome.
So, to close, I’d like to say: "Shout out to all the people who have broke my heart before, because now it can be yours."
