Here's what the humans have to say about me:
**PLEASE NOTE: Before any adoption is to take place we require all questions below to be answered and we then setup a zoom call with prospective adopters. Pickles is located in Bakersfield. If you are able to come to Bakersfield that is a plus. If not we travel a 100 mile radius to bring a dog to their new home. That includes all of Kern County, Tulare County, Fresno County, and part of Los Angeles as well as Paso Robles. Any distances further than that will be considered with a travel fee. Due to time constraints only one in person meeting will be scheduled.)***
Meet Pickles!!
You will never meet a happier, more well adjusted puppy than little Miss Pickles!! This 3 month old ball of love and life currently weighs about 6 pounds, has the softest, silkiest tri-color coat and is not expected to weigh more than 15 pounds full grown. We are guessing on the breeds and have analyzed photos etc and it would seem that she is part Corgi, part Papillon as well as some other breeds.
She did not come from a bad situation just one with too many dogs. A young woman and her husband ran and lived on a RV Storage property that was huge. Having a big heart she would constantly come across abandoned dogs and take them home. She was working on getting them all spayed and neutered when they came in but unfortunately some of them wound up getting pregnant. This little girl was on her property and she thought she was a Shih Tzu mix but that is definitely not the case.
Her legs a little shorter, although not as short as a Corgi's and she does have the coat and coloring of a Cardigan Corgi as well as the ears of a Papillon or Toy Fox Terrier. Whatever she is she did not miss a beat leaving her temporary home and going to her foster home! She was in love with her foster Mom in one second, started playing with toys and tried to make friends with the other dogs and cats right away.
She is a great eater, not picky at all and loves to cuddle.
She would make a great family dog or a fantastic travel companion as she loves the car and just has no fear of anything new. As she has such a wonderful temperament already she is the type of dog you can mold into the best canine citizen ever!
Her adoption fee includes:
1. Current DAPP vaccine
2. Deworming
3. Spay (when she is 6 months old per the terms of our adoption agreement)
4. Microchip
5. Starter food plus colostrum supplement
6. Harness and leash
7.. Grooming
Her adoption fee is $450.
As we prescreen via email ONLY (we do NOT make or receive phone calls in the pre-screening phase) please tell us a bit about you such as:
1. Your lifestyle, activity level and work schedule.
2. Area you live in and if it is a house or apartment. (Please indicate city)
3. How many adults, children and pets in the household.
4. Where your pet stays when you are out or at work.
5. Where your pet will sleep.
6. Dog breed experience
7. Have you ever had to give up a pet
8. If you do not currently have a pet how you will keep Pickles socialized with other dogs
Some notes to consider before applying for Pickles:
1. Pickles is a 3 month old puppy. She is still in the process of learning housebreaking and although doing well she may have accidents. Please make sure that everyone is on board and ready for the responsibility of a puppy.
2. Please make sure you are ready to adopt before coming to see our adoptable dogs. We are a foster based rescue and do not have the space to hold dogs for a couple of weeks while you vacation or make your way to California to come and adopt. We will adopt out of state but ONLY if the potential adopter comes here to adopt in person and that is after a screening by Skype. WE DO NOT SHIP DOGS EVER. If you are not ready to adopt WHEN the dog is available please wait to write in when you are.
3. We are often inundated with emails about our adoptable dogs and try as we might to make everyone happy it is nearly impossible with only one dog and sometimes up to 50 potential families. The more information you provide in your email to us the quicker we will get back to you. If you have written to us before about a particular dog and did not receive a response please do try again. We try to answer every email but it is not always possible. Every dog has different home requirements that we search for so sometimes you are the right fit for the dog we are trying to place.
4. PLEASE do NOT send more than one email. It slows down the process.
5. We do not make appointments for people to just come "see" the dogs available. They are in private foster homes and we go through a pre-screening process before any appointments are made.
Thank you for choosing to adopt!
