My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi my name is Juliet. My kittens and I were saved from euthanasia by Assisi. I was a great mother and my kittens have been adopted and now it’s my turn. I am very shy and would do best in a home with no other animals and no young children. It takes me a while to open up but once I do I will love you for eternity. I am enjoying pets and I’m finally seeing how great humans can be. I do have a corneal scar on my right eye which makes my vision in that eye a little blurry. I have been waiting for a home and for people who love me for a long time. Please adopt me!

More about this rescue

Founded in 1985, Assisi Animal Foundation is a 501 C-3 not-for-profit corporation and McHenry County, Illinois' first and longest running no-kill animal shelter.

We are dedicated to providing shelter, care and re-homing of animals to caring, permanent homes. We abide by a no-kill policy, which allows for euthanasia only in cases of terminal illness which cause suffering, severe not repairable injuries, or in cases of such severe aggression that it is a threat to other shelter residents and caregivers.

We are also dedicated to educating the public on animal welfare, preservation and protection, providing a pet therapy program to nursing centers and providing a continuing care program for dogs and cats.

Unfortunately, our space and resources are not infinite. We operate on an appointment basis, to be sure that someone knowledgeable about the animals is on hand to serve adopters or visitors.
