Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
I found a new home! Plenty of my friends are looking for one too. Check out other pets at this shelter, or start a new search.

Here's what the humans have to say about me:
**PLEASE NOTE: Before any adoption is to take place we require all questions below to be answered and we then setup a zoom call with prospective adopters. Tucker is located in Bakersfield. If you are able to come to Bakersfield that is a plus. If not we travel a 100 mile radius to bring a dog to their new home. That includes all of Kern County, Tulare County, Fresno County, and part of Los Angeles as well as Paso Robles. Any distances further than that will be considered with a travel fee. Due to time constraints only one in person meeting will be scheduled. If you have applied for a dog previously and not gotten a response please do not be discouraged. Sometimes there is 50 inquiries for one dog. Please try again.)***
Meet Little Tucker G!
If you are looking for a guardian angel then Tucker G might be your little fellow because he certainly had a guardian angel looking over him! This beautiful 18 month old boy is a 13 pound Shih Tzu/Poodle who is non-shedding and hypoallergenic with a coat (when grown out) is a beautiful mixture of silver, brown, white and tan!
This little boy could have met a terrible end if not for a good Samaritan! A woman was at the Kern County Animal Shelter with her daughter who helps to foster cats. While there a man came in with Tucker who had long wild hair, matted and full of sticks and foxtails, wanting to surrender him to the shelter. He was told he went to the wrong shelter for his address and was also told they would not be able to take him in anyway. The man was angry and acting erratically so one of the women followed him out to his car because she had a bad feeling. As the man who was yelling and slamming his car door pulled out he opened the door and dropped Tucker out and then drove off! She ran over and scooped him up before he ran into the road to get hit by a car.
She cleaned him up and gave him a home for a week and then decided to find a rescue to take him in which is where we stepped in. He is currently in foster care and just could not be a sweeter boy! He LOVES cats and wants to make friends with all the cats he lives with! He was scared of big dogs when he first arrived but is fine now and made great friends with another rescue dog who is being fostered.
He is housebroken, walks well on a leash and though nervous the first few minutes you meet him, his natural curiosity and zest for living just takes over. He loves the yard and loves a good cuddle in bed. His only downfall is he is a bit of a fussbudget where food is concerned so he is on a cooked diet or likes a particular brand of food that is very pure.
He loves children as well and gravitates towards them when he sees them. He does not have a mean bone in his body making it hard to fathom how anyone could ever get rid of him!
As we prescreen via email ONLY (we do NOT make or receive phone calls in the pre-screening phase) please tell us a bit about you such as:
1. Your lifestyle, activity level and work schedule.
2. Area you live in and if it is a house or apartment. (Please indicate city)
3. How many adults, children and pets in the household.
4. Where your pet stays when you are out or at work.
5. Where your pet will sleep.
6. Dog breed experience
7. Have you ever had to give up a pet
8. If you do not currently have a pet how you will keep Tucker socialized with other dogs
Some notes to consider before applying for Tucker:
1. Tucker is an 18 month old young dog. Please make sure that everyone is on board and ready for the responsibility of a young dog. Although he is housebroken adjusting to a new home she may have an accident.
2. Please make sure you are ready to adopt before coming to see our adoptable dogs. We are a foster based rescue and do not have the space to hold dogs for a couple of weeks while you vacation or make your way to California to come and adopt. We will adopt out of state but ONLY if the potential adopter comes here to adopt in person and that is after a screening by Zoom. WE DO NOT SHIP DOGS EVER.
3. We are often inundated with emails about our adoptable dogs and try as we might to make everyone happy it is nearly impossible with only one dog and sometimes up to 50 potential families. The more information you provide in your email to us the quicker we will get back to you. If you have written to us before about a particular dog and did not receive a response please do try again. We try to answer every email but it is not always possible. Every dog has different home requirements that we search for so sometimes you are the right fit for the dog we are trying to place.
4. PLEASE do NOT send more than one email. It slows down the process.
5. We do not make appointments for people to just come "see" the dogs available. They are in private foster homes and we go through a pre-screening process before any appointments are made.
Thank you for choosing to adopt!
