Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Archie is ADOPTED !!!
Archie is fostered in Valley View Ohio and his adoption donation is 300.
Archie is a 3-year-old, male, Cavalier King Charles spaniel, rescued from an Amish puppy mill. He is nothing but loving and full of energy at his new found freedom. He has discovered the thrill of toys and even knows how to play fetch already. He is figuring out the difference between pottying outside vs. inside and foster mom will include male diapers to go to his new home.
No dog that comes from a situation where they are used as property is “just add water.” Archie will need someone with patience, understanding, and love, but more than anything, firm command of themselves so they as the human don’t reinforce bad behaviors. Training for both human and dog is highly recommended. One of the worst thing new owners can do is smother a new dog. It’s best to start out with a very strict pattern of training and limit time out of crate. As Archie understands what is acceptable, add rewards and more freedom when he exhibits appropriate behaviors. Bring treats with you on walks, praise him when he goes potty where you ask him and add a reward.
Archie would do well with other dogs his size or as a single dog. He has had no issues with the other cavaliers in his foster home but has attacked foster mom’s border collie for just walking by when he had a toy.
You only have to look at Archie’s pictures, see his soulful eyes, to know he is full of so much love and excitement for his new life. He will make someone very happy. Homes with children under 12 are not going to be a good fit, older children who can reinforce training would be fine. Archie is very special, and loves nothing more than being in your lap, and being praised.
Archie is heartworm negative, current on vaccinations and had a dental
