My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello, my name is Max. I am a 7-year-old, 65 lb., blue male Weimaraner. I recently was neutered, all my vaccines completed, heartworm negative and started on monthly prevention. All I have known is my caged outdoor life before I came to the rescue. Everything is new to me. I MEAN EVERYTHING! LWR saved my life and I am looking for my forever home.

The foster family I am currently with is being very kind and patient with me. Since everything is new to me, I am nervous a lot. I am not the best with car rides, but I am working on that. My foster Mom works from home so I am out of a crate during the day. I usually only go in the crate when it is bedtime or they are leaving the house. I don't bark or cry when I am in there. Toys and treats are something new as well so I am gentle but not sure what I am supposed to do with them. My name and the word "No" are all that I understand right now, but my foster family is working with me on basic commands. You will definitely get nose bumps, leaning, and a lot of love from me. It will take me time to get accustomed to a new family so please have patience with me and go slowly. I have been through a tough life so far. I know that my life is now on the way to being WONDERFUL.

Previously I was an outside dog only. Being in a house is like a big adventure. Everything is so new. I do have some fears and I am a bit nervous, but I have confidence my forever family will make me comfortable just like my foster family is doing. I long for a forever home that fits me. I need a fenced yard as I will dart out the door or away from you if you give me the chance. My foster sister is a female Weim who is really nice and friendly. I like her and I'm trying to bond with her. There is also a small foster dog that I don't bother, but to be on the safe side it would be better if I didn't go to a home with small dogs and definitely no CATS. I have a skin tag on my chest and a bump on my shoulder. The vet said not to worry about them and they don't bother me, but I heard I may have them removed while I am waiting on my forever family. I love to cuddle and play outside with you. I think it may be a little much for me to live with young children as they may scare me when they are running around and being loud.

I am being fostered in the Louisville area. If you are looking for a dog that is loving, loyal, and happy, please complete an application at louisvilleweimrescue.com and one of the LWR volunteers will be in contact. Looking forward to meeting you.
