My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

** Toodle Lou is currently in a foster home, and she is available for adoption! Email applications@chicagocaninerescue.org to set up a meet + greet! **

Toodle Lou landed herself in a foster home in May '24! Since living with the family, she's proven herself to be a loving, kind-hearted pet. She spends much of her day napping on the couch and playing with the other dogs! She is mostly housebroken, and she loves to race out into the backyard for zoomies. Toodle loves to cuddle and run to show you all of her toys! She is the sweetest girl around and is in search of a loving forever family!
Toodle is working on building confidence for walks. She can be nervous and will pancake in scary situations. With encouragement, treats and patience, she is making big steps forward.

Toodle Lou has come such a long way from when she first arrived at CCR. Her spine was warped due to being confined in a cage most of her life and with the help of physical therapy she is looking a lot better!
We are still working with the vet to get a good treatment in place for her skin condition it has been pretty treatment resistant. That said, she is an excellent patient and is understanding and tolerant of needing baths, pills + testing. She's a very good girl.

More about this shelter

CCRF was founded in 2001 to help find permanent, loving homes for homeless dogs in our city. In just over seven years, CCRF has saved the lives of over 2,000 dogs, cats, kittens and puppies.

CCRF now assists the animals that are the MOST vulnerable in Midwest - the dogs and cats that are slated for euthanasia because they are too old, too young, injured, have disabilities, or have simply been overlooked for too long by potential adopters at other shelters.
