Here's what the humans have to say about me:
My friends here at HOPE named me Oak because I was shaky and quivery like a leaf when I came here. That was a week ago, and I'm already opening up and developing some confidence. They tell me I will be solid like my namesake before too long.
I had a bit of a rough start. I came from a bit of a dog hoarding situation. At least that's what my friend here says. All I know is that I lived with a lot of dogs, and I didn't go outside very often. When I got here I balked at doors. I didn't want to go out or in. I would drop to the ground and shake. But when I would see my hooman sitting on the ground, I would crawl to her for a hug. Now I am going through doors like a champ!
I love to hang out in the lobby here. There are a lot of cats, and sometimes they scare me a bit, but I just leave them alone. They don't want to be friends, so I stay close to my favorite hoomans instead. I totally think I should be a lap dog, especially when they are trying to type. For some reason they put my front paws back on the ground and tell me "off." I don't think I like "off." On is a much better place to be!
Update: I was adopted, but now I am back at HOPE. I have gained lots of confidence, but I still adore people. I am a bit dog selective, so if there is another dog in the home, it needs to be the right dog. And it upsets me when children cry. I tend to jump on them. So perhaps I would do better in a home with older children.
