Here's what the humans have to say about me:
NOW AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION…..
“SAPPHIRE” is a silver, spayed, AKC Miniature Poodle who is 1 1/2 years old (born December 28. 2021). She is about 14 pounds and measures 13 inches tall from the floor to her withers.
This pretty girl had been well cared for by a concerned breeder who deeply loved all of her dogs. Sapphire even slept in bed with owner. Sadly, for various health reasons, the breeder needed to surrender her two beloved Poodles (Sapphire and Finnigan) to us. Thank you, Lisa.
Sapphire is a wonderful, loving and gentle girl who is shy at first. But once she gets to know you, she loves attention, gives kisses and enjoys sitting with either me or my husband. She also greatly enjoys following us around, considers herself a family member and gets along just fine with our smaller Poodles but can be little snarky with our Standard Poodles.
This 1-year-old Poodle is quiet but like most all dogs, she will bark when someone comes to our door. A firm “No!” and she will stop barking. Then when she gets to know you, she will show you all around our home. She’s my great home security system!
In all my years dealing with Poodles, I know silvers have their “quirks”. For example, Sapphire is very, VERY smart and needs to know you before she becomes your friend. Also, pictures (below) showing just how smart she is.
Sapphire realized that I had put a small container of dog food on our kitchen table which she wanted but couldn’t reach. So, in a matter of a few seconds she pulled the tablecloth to get it! Yikes! Well, I managed to catch the food before it fell onto the floor while she gave me that “Dang you, girl” look.
Another quirk is that she is “mouthy”. Which means she loves to give kisses but can get carried away by putting your hand into her mouth. A simple and very firm “NO!” stops that.
She would be fine in a home of her own but has been fine with other soft and easy-going yet fun loving dogs. However, Sapphire is the (another quirk) QUEEN here. It takes a bit of time for her to warm up to new people as this is HER Kingdom. And doesn’t really care for children. She keeps her distance from our visiting grandchildren and then is glad when they leave.
Sapphire has been a perfect girl in our home (housetrained), will muzzle and lick your hand until you pet her, loves treats (rattle the bag), attention (call her name) then wants hugs and cuddles while sitting in your lap.
We do NOT have a copy of her AKC papers, but instead a copy of her very nice AKC pedigree which show some of her amazing AKC CH lines, including “Zamora’s”, “Winstar’s” and “Cabryn”!
*A SECURLY FENCED YARD WILL BE REQUIRED as she loves to run (Poodle Zoomies) and is not leash trained (working on that).
*You must be physically able to handle a very smart Poodle.
*Preference will be given to a quiet family with past Poodle experience.
*PLEASE:
*NO cats as she will chase them.
*NO large dogs as she ignores or becomes snarky with them. She prefers smaller dog.
*No aggressive or assertive dogs (self-explanatory).
*NO children as she’s not fond of them.
*We do NOT adopt our Poodles to homes more than 1 day’s drive (round trip) from our location here in central Minnesota.
She has been Vet checked healthy, spayed, teeth cleaned, vaccinations and worming are up to date. She is also Home Again microchipped and registered along with being heartworm / Lymes / Anaplasmosis / Ehrlich tested negative and placed on a preventative.
Now this year has been a huge problem with grass allergies for many dogs. Because Sapphire was itching and licking a lot, we started her on allergy medication and shampoo. We also have changed her dog food which has limited ingredients and salmon. No problems now!
As with all the other Poodles we have adopted, Sapphire’s adoption fee is 1 million, trillion, zillion dollars.
However, for the right family her adoption fee is $750.00 which includes $51.00 for our 7.375% Minnesota state sales tax. This fee includes her vet work, a leash, collar, a bag of limited ingredient quality dog food, a large 10-gallon dog food container, treats, dog toys in a cute toy box, a new blanket along with lots of good information to help your Poodle adoption move forward on the right paw!
