My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Cassio is 1 of 9 puppies found in a culvert pipe and rescued in 2023.  One puppy didn't make it, the remaining 8 came to our rescue. One was as adorable as the next.  Cassio is estimated to be about 1 year old as of April 1, 2024.  He's microchipped and up to date on age appropriate core vaccines and neutered.  We have no information on parents and as such can't guarantee size.

Would do best as an only dog, but will consider the right dog companion considering he still gets along with most of his doggie housemates. Cassio gets along with all dogs in public and for playdates, LOVES to play with other dogs, but seems to prefer his home and his people to himself (He tried going to a home with a very sweet dog but was very dominant, rough and territorial). If Cassio finds a dog he can live with, he would need to be fed separately as he food guards. Cassio is the largest of the litter, 75lbs as of April 2024. Cassio is a typical energetic pup and then some, he displays working dog behaviors and needs an active family, and REQUIRES a completely fenced in yard. New home MUST have adequate space considering his breed (American English Coonhound, adopted brother was DNA tested). Cassio can be a vocal guy and if he wants something, will let you know, therefore no shared walls (apartments, townhomes, etc). He is house trained but will need reinforcement and a schedule. Cassio is crate trained and sleeps through the night. Cassio is extremely loving and always excited to see new people and dogs on walks. He is being fostered with numerous small dogs who he has been with since 2.5 months old and gets along with and respects all of them. Cassio has met a cat before and was respectful towards the kitty and eventually lost interest. Although Cassio is working on his manners, he doesn't know his size and is too jumpy for small children.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

Our adoption process starts with the application. All required fields must be completed in order for your application to be considered. It's important that we place the right dog with the right family. Adopting a pet is a lifetime commitment...please ensure you have considered this commitment before submitting an application. Once all reference checks are completed, you will be notified if your application has been approved. Upon approval of your application, a "meet and greet" is scheduled. All of our rescues are fostered in loving, caring homes until we find the right permanent home for them. Our foster volunteers will contact you to make arrangements to meet your potential new family member. A home visit is required before we will place any of our rescues in a forever home. Upon completion of a successful home visit, an adoption contract is completed. Adoption fees typically range from $175 to $375..

More about this rescue

We are a rescue organization fueled by our love of animals and the wonderful volunteers who support us and give freely of their time and dedication to the rescue efforts.

3 Hearts 4 Paws Animal Rescue was founded with love and passion and is dedicated not only to the lives of those we save, but to the so many lives that are lost. We are a non profit organization comprised of volunteers who give selflessly and open their hearts and their homes, as a stepping stone to the permanent home every rescue animal dreams of. We are not a shelter, each of our rescues are cared for in the warmth of their foster homes, as we help them on their journey waiting for the place they can call their own.

We are primarily a canine rescue, pulling dogs from high kill shelters across the U.S. Our goal is to save as many lives as we possibly can and to bring an awareness to those around us of the pain and suffering that occcurs in puppy mills and the fate that awaits those thrown away to a shelter. PLEASE...Adopt...don't Shop!
