Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Rena is a very very sweet kitty who has probably had a real hard past. When you want to pet her, at first she will step away but if you hold out your hand, she'll come over to it and usually start purring within a minute or so. After a couple of minutes she will be lying down showing you her belly to get scratches and rubbing her face on your hand as hard as you possibly can. You know that she’s truly comfortable and safe with you when she will seek you out for that attention. She particularly loves the front of her face pet.
Sweet Rena was found fending for herself. She was acquired by a landlord with the intention of putting her to work on rodent patrol. This person didn't believe she needed to be fed, so left her to fend for herself. She then wasn't spayed and ended up having her kittens, When Chicago Cat Rescue found her, a kind resident was feeding her and had given her a covered box to be out of the wind when she had her babies. CCR rescued the family when the kittens were just days old.
She is not a lap kitty necessarily, but if you are sitting on the couch or on a chair and she is in a good mood, she might jump up and sit on your lap so that she can get pet. If Rena isn't asleep, she's usually nearby. She likes to be close and sometimes is curled up right behind you without you knowing it!
Rena has not had the opportunity to play with many toys because she’s the mom to 4 kittens and as soon as those kittens come over they steal her spotlight. However, she will play with a string toy when they are not around. Or even let the kittens play with her tail.
**We know that threesomes are tougher to place, but we think if you saw Rena with her boys, Ghost and Puff, you’d understand why we’re trying to keep them together in a forever home.**
If you would like to meet and possibly adopt this amazing feline, please email info@chicagocatrescue.org or call 773/203-0215. No texts, please.
CCR adopts to forever homes in Chicago or the very near suburbs that are within 10 miles of our Chicago foster families. We love our cats and we pledge support for the rest of their lives, which is why our location limits are in place. We appreciate your understanding. If you are outside of these limits, please check petfinder.com, which allows searching by zip code, for cats closer to your home.
At Chicago Cat Rescue, we are dedicated to both the physical and emotional well-being of the cats and kittens in our care. For this reason, unless expressly stated, we do not place cats or kittens in homes where they will be the only cat. Generally, cats love the company of other cats, and can become quite lonely when living alone.
Kittens will only be placed in pairs, or to join another kitten or young cat in your home.
Chicago Cat Rescue is an entirely foster-based organization. Our ability to help more cats in need is dependent on our availability of foster homes. If you think you could provide a loving foster situation for a cat in need, or would like to learn more about our foster program, please email us, info@chicagocatrescue.org. Thank you!
