My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Sandy Ridge
YOU MUST HAVE AN APPROVED APPLICATION IN ORDER TO MEET OUR PETS.

Sandy is an approximately 2-year-old hound-shepherd mix who was captured by a Good Samaritan in Greensboro, NC after becoming a homeless dog. Unfortunately, Sandy was not wearing any identification tags nor was she microchipped. She was also reported to local Animal Control but no owner came forward to claim her. Several animal advocates stepped up to help Sandy on her journey to find a new, loving family. Following a brief adjustment period, Sandy is settling into her new life as an indoor pet with her foster family.

Sandy is a little shy around strangers but super sweet and very affectionate. She absolutely LOVES to be a lap dog!! Sandy has lots of youthful energy and would enjoy playing ball in a fenced yard or going on long, brisk walks. Sandy is great with other dogs and loves to play. She doesn't realize that she is nearly 70lbs so will need to be supervised around toy breeds or puppies. Sandy is curious about cats but does them no harm aside from chasing them around the house which she finds much more entertaining than do the cats. Sandy is fairly quiet indoors except when she is ready to get up in the morning or if her breakfast is not served quickly enough for her liking. However, when she does bark, she can be rather loud so she will be best suited in a single-family home as opposed to an apartment.

Sandy will need a fully fenced yard (5' or taller) or need to be leash walked 100% of the time to keep her safely secured. Due to her background, she will not be permitted to be an off-leash dog and will require a Martingale collar and harness combination for optimal security. She is excellent on a leash and loves to go on adventures. House training is mostly complete but she did have one accident inside so she will need to be supervised in her new forever home to reinforce her training during the transition. Sandy enjoys playing with toys, especially tennis balls and Nyla bones. She has not spent much time around small children but was OK with them.
