My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

“FINNIGAN” is a 1-year-old (born April 28, 2022), red, neutered, AKC “tiny” Toy Poodle who weighs 4.5 pounds and measures 10 inches from the floor to his withers. Finnigan comes to us from a concerned breeder that deeply loved and cared for all of her dogs. For health reasons, she needed to surrender her two beloved Poodles to us. Thank you, Lisa.

This little boy is so very cute, active, loves attention and will follow me everywhere. He greatly enjoys being held and loved, but he is feisty! He is the first one to jump up on the couch to let me know if someone comes to the door, when the deer get to close to our fence or if one of the other Poodles are not doing something right.

He is also an extremely smart boy that knows the word “NO!”, comes when called or when he hears the treat bag being rattled, knows when it’s time to eat (food motivated), has kept his kennel clean and has been a perfect boy in our home (housetrained).

Up and down steps he will fly with no problems, will run around our back yard with the other little Poodles and will even remove an entire roll of toilet paper, while dragging and shredding it all over the house if you’re not watching him...…. even though this little boy only has 3 legs that work.

Just before his 1st birthday, it was determined that he had Legg-Calve-Perthes disease (also known as Perthes disease) in his right leg.
This is a rare condition in which the ball-shaped head of the thighbone (femoral head) temporarily loses its blood supply. As a result, the head of the thighbone collapses, and the area becomes inflamed and irritated.
Finnigan then underwent a surgery to remove his right femoral head.

Prognosis for Dogs with Legg-Calve-Perthes Disease: After surgery, rehabilitation therapy has been done to help rebuild muscles that create a kind of “false joint” where the diseased bone used to be. Dogs that had early disease changes or mild signs recover quickly. Fortunately, in time, dogs will make full recoveries and go on to live normal lives as Finnigan is doing!

*A securely fenced yard or a large exercise pen will be required. You will also have to watch him while he is outside as he can be an easy dinner for some hungry eagle, owl, fox or wandering coyote.
Finnigan is not leashed trained. Besides, this is NOT a dog that you will take for a walk but would rather enjoy being held while YOU take your walk
*You must be physically able to handle a smart, but tiny boy.
*Preference will be given to a family with past Poodle experience.
PLEASE:
*NO large dogs and NO children as Finnigan is very afraid of them.
*NO aggressive or assertive dogs; obvious reasons.
*Like most all rescue groups, we do NOT adopt our Poodles to homes more than 1 day’s drive (round trip) from our location here in central Minnesota.

We do have a copy of his AKC papers. He has been recently neutered, teeth cleaned, Heartworm, Lymes and Ehrlichia tested negative, wormed, all his shots (including rabies) are up to date. He has also been Home Again microchipped and registered.

As with all our Poodles, Finnigan’s adoption fee is one million, trillion, zillion dollars. However, for the right family his adoption fee is $650.00 which includes $45.00 for our 7.375% Minnesota state sales tax.

Also included is a cute puppy harness and leash, his kennel, a bag of quality dog food, new dog food container, treats, various dog toys in a toy box, a new soft fuzzy dog bed and a blanket along with lots of good information to help your Poodle’s adoption move forward on the right paw!
