My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

The meaning of the name Dakota is "friend, ally" and that is what Dakota is looking for. Dakota came from a tragic household setting so was shy and very nervous. He has since worked with a wonderful trainer and has learned so much. He knows sit, down, settle, leave it, wait, off and come. He has learned to walk on a loose leash, but some new places make him nervous and he will need to be reminded not to pull and walk too fast. The trainer will show you all that he has learned so you can be a team.

Dakota does not seem to have been an inside dog in his previous home but has adapted and does well with a doggie door. He gets along with other dogs and would probably like to have a dog companion. He has lived with children and cats so would probably be fine with both.

Dakota has been neutered, micro chipped and vaccinated (including influenza). He is now heartworm negative and is current on heartworm/flea and tick prevention. His adoption fee is $175.00 and you can see a more detailed bio and complete an adoption application at dogsasfamily.org.
