My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

DISCLOSURE: The adoptable pets in our program are still in the care and custody of owners who wish to re-home their pet. Owners have enlisted Rescue Well to provide marketing and screening of applicants as a service, free of charge. All fees and adoption conditions are determined by the owner. We advise that adopters do not send payment or deposits for pets prior to adopting.

Chesney is 15 months old, weighs 55 lbs, is up to date on his vaccinations, but is not neutered nor microchipped.  He knows the following commands:  sit, come, down, place, heel and stay.

Chesney's guardian explains why she has made the decision to rehome him:  A family friend adopted Chesney and subsequently another puppy and it proved too much for Chesney, so his current guardians are temporarily fostering him during the rehome search.

BITE INCIDENT:  More than 10 days ago, in Bel Air, MD, Chesney bit a human family member.  The bite broke the skin but medical attention was not required.  While Chesney was sleeping on his place board, someone reached over to grab something which startled him.  He also guards his resources, so he's snapped on previous occasions.

Chesney's guardian states the following regarding children:  Chesney hasn't lived with children, so his guardian doesn't recommend his living with children, stating "He is neutral."

Chesney's guardian states the following regarding dogs:  Chesney has lived with dogs, so his guardian recommends his living with dogs, stating "He enjoys playing with other dogs."

Chesney's guardian states the following regarding cats:  Chesney hasn't lived with cats, so his guardian doesn't recommend his living with cats, stating "Never been around cats."

Chesney's guardian describes him as:

Barks alot
Playful
Friendly
Likes to be touched
Affectionate
Fearful
Independent
Always at your side
Indoor dog
Crate-Trained

Chesney's guardian describes his ideal future home:  "Consistent structured home.  Patient and committed owners.  Follow through with training in place.  Potentially with older kids.  Other dogs are fine.

Rehoming Fee:  $75

Location:  Bel Air, Maryland

More about this rescue

Rescue Well was founded by Christine Sandberg in Baltimore, Maryland in 2011. Since its launch, it’s grown from offering post-adoption support to the city shelter, to offering several programs across Maryland, Washington, DC, and Northern Virginia. Our Programs focus on improving the lives of both pets and its owners. We proudly serve without judgment or expectations and we strictly follow our Rescue Well Engagement Model: ENGAGE > EDUCATE > EMPOWER.

Our organization’s programs are run by volunteers who are actively engaged in front-line intervention, community support, shelter support, and re-homing services for all pets.
