Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Cartelita- our special 3.5 legged dog. She came to us from Southern Texas where she had been found injured by the Mexican border. Her front right leg was shot and had to be amputated. She gets around well so far and has been adjusting really well to life as a tripawd :)
Cartie is guessed to be about 1 year old and around 6 lbs. She likes to take things slow when meeting new people and may take a while before she trusts you. If you are a patient type and can allow a dog to decompress and gain trust on their own terms, Cartie is the dog for you!
Cartie has had mixed reviews of the other dogs in her foster home- some dogs she does very well with and plays with, and other dogs she doesn't want anything to do with. We haven't been able to determine the common denominator, so for now we just think she is dog selective, and she would have to meet any dogs in a new home first.
Cartie does well with the dog savvy 4-year-old in her foster home, but due to her need to learn trust and go slow, we are not recommending she be placed with young children or children who are not dog savvy.
Cartelita's adoption donation of $350 helps cover the cost of her veterinary care. Cartelita is current on vaccines, tested negative for heartworm, tick diseases and fecal parasites, spayed, and she is microchipped.
Application, reference checks, and home visit required. Adopters must live 1.5 hours driving distance from Romeoville, IL. If you are interested in adopting, please complete an adoption application, which can be found on our website at www.perfectpooches.org under the Adoption Process tab.
